Quarantine

Sherri the Writer

Caitlyn thought it would be just another day at the office, until a quarantine closed their doors.

Note: This is one of my early works. Caitlyn thought it was just another Friday in the small town of Central, SC until a quarantine closed their doors. As the day passes she and three co-workers find that this quarantine is hiding dark secrets. An infection might not be their only worry - and the four of them might not be the only people in the office!

It always amazes me how everyone taste is different and some enjoy a story and some don't and some find things wrong and some don't. My point is I think this a great story and I don't see anything wrong with it. I think you have something going here. I see a good book here and think it could be something really strong. Good luck with this. I'm going to keep it on my list to read some more.

It's quite difficult to get in to, as the first chapter is mainly scene-setting (to me, anyway), but after that it's really good. One thing I'll recommend- lose the exclamation mark in the pitch.

It took me a little while to get to this book, and I'm really glad now that I did. There are some really good scenes in this, and I think that the characters are very strong and believable.

I do think that the story could have been stretched out further; perhaps with some foreshadowing of the twists? Just something to think about - but I really did enjoy the idea, and I thought you did some really great work on it

QUARANTINE
Sherri, this was an enjoyable read for me. Your style has a gentle touch, while still being deeply insightful. I like the variety of supporting characters that are both entertaining and well developed. There is an honesty and truthfulness that makes each and every character believable.
Overall I enjoyed this story enough to shelve and recommend it.

Hi Sherri!

A chick-lit thriller - I'm loving this!!! I absolutely would buy this from your pitch alone. Love the first chapter and how it sets up the intrigue for the rest of the book.

Is your book really complete at just under 20M words, or have you just posted a portion? Anyway, this is good, and I'm happy to back it!

Hi Sherri,

A good start makes the reader ask questions and therefore motivates them to continue.

Minor nit at the end of the first chapter.

Neither of them saw the man pressed against the side of the building as they parted way.

If they didn’t see him who did? POV

Were about to have an exciting day is a wonderful end line. Think about it.

The beginning of chapter two contains a lot of information which I’m certain is relevant to the story but do we need to have in one big chunk. You might consider splitting it up and feeding the reader little tit bits. Look at this section carefully and that which does not move the story forward delete. That may seem harsh but it’s the way forward.

Do we need to know about Megan’s husband?

The second half of chapter two is very good it maintains the reader’s interest and a great ending.

Nice introduction to some basic medical facts – viral and bacterial.

The solution quarantine or is it? I assume the police can’t leave either.

You have the ingredients of an intriguing tale.

Apart from the information dumping this is interesting and well written.

Because of its potential I’ll let it stay a while on my shelf.
