RAGTOWN, Bordered On Hell

BDC

What you are about to read is the second story in a series of short stories told by a story teller around a campfire.

Visualize this wise old man dressed in a western outfit reminiscing about his past experiences. Appreciate that fact that he’s not a writer he’s a teller of stories created by a vivid imagination. The first story in this series was about his adventures in Ragtown, Nevada and each new story is a continuation from the previous story. Ragtown was threatened by a gang of notorious bandits who raped the women, stole anything of value and killed anyone who tried to stop them.

Thank you for your comment and the welcome to Authonomy. I joined WEbook almost a year ago (A community of readers and writers) to learn to write short stories. I love to write poetry and I love reading good poetry but short stories are a new challenge for me. I was challenge by one of the writers on Webook to write a short western story and submit it within 24 hours. Ragtown is the story and it took five hours to write and umpteen hours to edit. I had so much fun writing the story that I decided to write a series called Campfire Stories. Each story I write, I like to think, is better than the last. Ragtown is my baby and The Gold Mine is my toddler. I like making them short and easy to read in one setting. I’m not sure where this will lead but if I don’t try, well I guess that remains to be seen. Thanks again I need all the encouragement I can get.

I'm not a typical western reader, but I took a look at Ragtown because it was new. I like the unconventional style and dig the pretense. At times the dialogue was a bit typical, however I liked what I read.

All in all, this has potention. I'm giving you shelf time, welcome to authonomy.
