That Time in Honduras

Wilf Morgan

Okay, I'm gonna tell this story pretty fast, so try to keep up, I may be dead any second. Also, I think I hear pigs.

Join a young pig farmer from Northern Honduras and an international assassin as they both try to learn about love, revenge, and what not to do when surrounded by corrupt soldiers carrying semi-automatic weapons.

'That Time in Honduras' is the exciting and emotional prequel to 'The Assassin's Wedding' (also on Authonomy).

Complete and fully uploaded, this is a very short sniff of a book at around 10,000 itty bitty words.

Top marks for the "Also, I think I hear the pigs." line. As you say, it's a short sniff, and I suspect with a little bit of sub-editing and house style clipping, it would find a home in a magazine or an anthology, and help promote The Assassin's Wedding. The format also allows itself to be split over several columns if a regular magazine has limited space per issue (which would also help to keep the readership going.)

Backed and read with enjoyment.

Hi Wilf! This was a great prequel; it would be wonderful to read more about Michael and his exploits.

My surprise find of the day. Bravo, Wilf! Crafted like a brisk slap to the face. A grand waker-upper! I need to keep reading to find out why I've been manhandled, who's doing the manhandling, and how far it's going to go. Shelved.

This is a pleasure to read with a good hook at the start and a character worth being curious about. I would buy this book after scanning it in the store. On my shelf. Patrick Barrett (Shakespeares Cuthbert)

My goodness this is good. I like the dual story lines and the hooks/tension you drop at the end of each chapter. The references to Emily are a nice counterbalance to the assassin's thoughts on his vocation. And while it is way too short to be a full-on novel, or even a novella (more the length of a novelette), I picture this as a screenplay, if fleshed out a bit more. Perhaps something directed by Robert Rodriguez? It seems up his alley, if you add some more quirks.

Just watch some spelling and grammar mistakes, and some translations of your Spanish dialog might be helpful as well. But other than that -- and I still have half of it to read and trust me, I will -- I truly like this. Onto the shelf for a spell. Thank you for the opportunity.

This is an intriguing, unique book and I'll help jump start it on the charts by backing it now. I like your writing style. It is witty and fast. Like Zeta Pi (below), I rarely think writers should use first person present tense, but I agree it works here. And the pigs make for some great lines. Love it.
Shelved.

This is very pacy . Your humour shines through and although I don't usually like 1st person present tense it works well here. I did find the italics difficult to read in so you might consider changing for the benefit of online readers. Nice hooks at the end of chapters though. This is going on my shelf.
