Do you know where your dreams come from?
Have you wondered why some are bright, brilliant and bursting with fun and happiness, while others are miserable, murky nightmares?
Well, I know why and I think it is time to tell you.
Have you heard of Fairies and Boglins?
Yes I know, you think fairies live in trees and flowers and dance round toadstool rings. And they do but I’m thinking of a different kind of fairy entirely.
I’m thinking of dream fairies. They work hard each night to give you sweet dreams, but while they do that, Boglins are trying just as hard to give you nightmares.
Dream fairies are not like normal fairies. Normal fairies live in the bottom of your garden. Sometimes you might be lucky enough to see one fluttering out of the corner of your eye. (These are retired dream fairies. They live nice quiet lives looking after plants and animals after their duty to you in your dreams).
Dream fairies are very hard working and are devoted to all children. They visit children to give them nice, warm, fuzzy dreams.
Boglins are different.
They give you horrible, disgusting, dark dreams, better known as nightmares.
For centuries dream fairies have battled against the Boglins to ensure that children have nice dreams. Dream fairies want children to wake up full of imagination, inspiration, goodness and fun.
Boglins don’t.
Boglins want to give children nightmares and make them naughty. Can you imagine a world full of children being bad and naughty?
Can you imagine your friends being nasty to you and doing horrid things? Wouldn't that be terrible?
If the Boglins ever manage to turn all the children in the world into horrible children, then they will be able to live here on Earth, and the world will turn dark forever.
This is what Dream Fairies are fighting against and this story is about their battle with the Boglins.
This story begins with my favourite dream fairy: T-cup.
