For most of us, our world exists as a series of newspaper headlines and TV bulletins, as hearsay, tittle-tattle and supposition—our picture of big wide world delivered up in reel after reel of shock and awe snapshots, courtesy of Le Cirque Media. Could any one man ever know the whole story, see the whole picture clearly?
Perhaps it is better this way. For it is said that ignorance is bliss - and ignorant bliss may be the closest that mankind will comes to attaining heaven. Indeed, were it not for the ignorant bliss of "faith", the world would surely know no religions; rendering heaven a state of mind, rather than some mystical other dimension.
For the majority of humanity - the "masses" - the world is a never-ending game of Chinese whispers, played against a backdrop of sensationalistic headlines and TV bulletins.
How can any one man ever hope to know the whole story, ever dream of seeing the whole picture clearly? And, for that matter, how can any one god?
