Confessions of a Bunny Blogger

Frederic Henderson

Experience the adventures of Frederic the Great, a scrawny rescue rabbit with a huge enthusiasm for life!

Did you know that rabbits are the third most popular domestic pet in the United States? They’re also the third most discarded, surrendered to animal shelters all over the country, or simply “dropped off “ somewhere.

Fortunately, not every unwanted bunny’s story ends in tragedy. Meet Frederic the Great, a scrawny Californian mix with a huge enthusiasm for life! Fred was rescued from a neglectful situation in New Jersey, and wound up at Great Lakes Rabbit Sanctuary in rural Willis, Michigan. That’s where we met, and this story begins.

Frederic’s a lot like your typical teenager—excitable, eager, anxious, bursting with curiosity and a fair amount of attitude. For the past year, he’s written a public blog, chronicling his transformation from “castoff” to “king of the castle”. Those entries (along with a few comments from Mom ) form the basis of this delightful tale. A book like no other, written by and about a bunny like no other.

First sorry for the delay in commenting after my recent backing of your book, unfortunately there were a few pressing jobs that need seeing too…

Clever structure and a totally captivating story.
I was surprised how I engaged with the perspective; I think that is down to the quality of the writing.
This actually became a bit of an addictive read. – Good luck

I really like your use of the first person narrative voice from Fredric, the rabbit. It is most unique and charmimg. It also allows you to concey all of his feelings, thoughts, fears and emmotions. This is a most pleasureable read. Backed.

I adore finding something unique on site, and this definitely fits that bill. Funny, enthusiastic and immediately engaging, I loved hearing Fred's voice, and yes, "current mood" is the perfect nod to cyber-blogging.

Great work!

Your cover is just ADORABLE! The read is just as incredible, and I can see success with this. What an original concept. On my shelf.

Frederic, what a gorgeous book. When it's done well, as this is, it's my favourite genre.
I hope you have success with this, because it will appeal to a wide spectrum. Shelved.Lynn

Hi Frederic!

Since you haven’t been to Authonomy for a while, I hope it’s okay that I’m sending this through your book comment:

I’d like to thank you for backing BRAINRUSH (a Thriller) last year. Because of you it hit the Authonomy Number-1 slot, attracted an agent, and landed a film option. Now that’s a brain-rush! The formal book launch is September 1st and the sequel will be released in December. None of this would have been possible without your help. So, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

Sincerely,
Richard Bard, BRAINRUSH

PS. If you want a good laugh, check out the temporary book-trailer video on the BRAINRUSH website. It’s there as a placeholder for the upcoming professional video. The current one features children and it’s guaranteed to make you smile! And yes, the younger kid on the screen is really me. You can see the video at www.RichardBard.com. The link is also on my Authonomy profile page. While you’re there, check out the “Feel the Rush” promotion that will get you BRAINRUSH plus 2 FREE thrillers from the Kindle Top-20 PAID Bestseller list – yes, really!

Cute. Cuddly but not sickly so. There are elements of fun, humour and the idea of a journal is a wonderful idea for the younger audience. Brilliantly conceived.

Hi Frederic, An entertaining way of putting across information about keeping a rabbit. The personality of a rabbit comes across, I think - quick, onto the next subject. The only thing is that I didn't get a picture of Fred's movements - rabbits move so quickly and are hard to grasp. This is a different and a fun idea - what a rabbit would blog. Enjoyed it - Shelved - Katherine (The Swan Bonnet)

I like the idea of using the blog format a lot. This is very engaging and sweet and I wish you all the best with it. I liked the rabbit website in chapter 2.

This is great!! I grew up with guinea pigs, dogs, cats, fish and spiders all over the house. But I never had a rabbit and I still want one, especially if he's like Fred. I love the 'current mood' entry into each day. Brilliant.

Fred: gotta admit, this is innovative I can go with the short pitch. With the long pitch, I would break it down into smaller paragraphs so it reads faster. Perfecting your pitches is how you climb in ranking to gather more exposure and comments to better your novel. The writing is good so I am SHELVING you.

Though I have been a very active member for over a year, I can still use your comments on my book when you get the chance. Every little bit helps. Cheers!

Dear Frederic, I LOVE your BUNNY story - it is just darling. :) I have my experience with bunnies in my memoir, but it was NOT good. :) Before I began to read your book, I was prepared by your recap/pitch that was before your story which was very well done. Your story is good because you create interest by having short paragraphs & lots of dialogue, which makes me want to keep reading to find out what's going to happen next. I'm commenting/backing your book to help it advance. Could you please return the favor by taking a moment to comment/back my TWO books, "He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not" & the unedited version? "Tell Me True Love Stories," which tells at the end my illness now/6th abusive marraiage." Thanks, Susie :)

Carrie

I read this with my 9 year old neighbour breathing down the back of my neck...She couldn't read it all herself , she got stuck on......chronicles, from there we read together.....

..You should head it up 'Childrens'

You have a consistently calming writing voice.....With a bit of a 'tweek' I can see a school teacher, with a horseshoe of children sitting around her feet, captivated....

A lovelly read, I wish you well with this...

shelved with pleasure.

Hi Frederic,

This is a great idea, I like the structure too, the different moods and the short sections. A lot of fun and what a pampered bunny, it is good to know he is having such a good time now. This would work well as a children's book as well, set out as you have here in a series of diary pages. A lot of fun this Christmas morning, best wishes and good luck

This is a cute premise. I'm not sure you need all the capitals (take this example in the uploaded chapter 15 (git home right now you monster furballs) -- that's all in caps and with three exclaimation points). I can get most of the tone from the words, I'm not sure it needs to be quite so loud - text in this manner can be a bit offputting. But the overall idea is original. Good luck with this.

Lorielle wrote 879 days ago

Awe this is such a cute story. :) I had a bunny when I was younger, but he was an outdoor only bunny.

hot lips wrote 879 days ago

As a kid I had several rabbits including Peter Rabbit who was gay. They lived in hutches and had very little fun compared to this house bunny. He clearly has a lovely and very attentive Mom, who has written a charming story, that I'm keen to back. If I love this, why wouldn't a a lot of people and especially children.

CarrieH wrote 880 days ago

You're absolutely right, and I plan to do that. Wasn't really thinking when I started uploading, then saw how cumbersome it's becoming!

Frederic,

I was happy to back your book because I like the premise. Have you considered consolidating your chapters to make them longer?
