How to be Human

K.A. Leemann

HOW TO BE HUMAN is a spiritual fantasy story about the journey of LIFE, going from the vastness of eternity to a small finite world.

HOW TO BE HUMAN is a fantasy story about an amazing journey taken by a spirit who, after choosing his destiny, begins what is called the JOURNEY of LIFE, in which he takes on human form on entering a place called the SANCTUARY. As the story moves forward, the reader learns about the main character who is restless and troubled, seeking answers to his questions about the meaning of his life. His ambition to find answers takes him on a quest to the four corners of the earth where he meets four sages who guide him, through natural wonders, into the most amazing truths. As the story unfolds the reader understands that this SANCTUARY is in fact the earth. The sages take the main character to actual places to expose hidden truths about his world, while exposing hidden truths about his own identity and ultimately the purpose of his journey of LIFE. The story is deeply captivating and exciting. It strengthens and excites the reader as he comes to realize that he himself is the main character of the story with his own adventure to discover and his own destiny to engage.

I have only read one chapter but I already know I will like this journey. I personally like the narrative voice and my only comment is your overuse of the word 'lofty'. You might go back over this and find other words to use. I like the premise and find the concept fascinating. I back this enthusiastically and plan to keep it on my WL so I can read more.

Dear K.A.

Welcome to authonomy.
How to be Human - a vital and sincere question. Although, you're among dreamweavers here who, according to your narrative voice obstruct the journey. You chose fantasy as genre, so I take that as cue. I like the premise you outline and have some suggestions. The story does not take off until the 6th chapter. You could pare down the telling, which is beautiful but has much repetition. The theme is powerful ... spirits living in bliss could never look upon grief with any understanding ... the sprits with the deepest holes, truly could offer the brightest lights ... the power of the word ... life is like wearing a blindfold ...
But the telling alone does not touch, it's the showing of the journey that grips us as readers, interweave the rest. A novel trances and involves the reader, like the soul is tranced by the music of spheres to incarnate in a body. Don't know if this is helpful. You have a story, share how your character suffers it, then, when the character has enough yearning, let the sage appear.
Best Wishes,

Pia (Course of Mirrors)
