Test Pilot's Daughter: Dead Reckoning

Steve Ward

The sequel to Revenge, Dead Reckoning follows Christina Matthews into space. Launched in NASA’s space shuttle, she finds herself in the middle of nuclear war.

With his invention of spacecraft docking technology and his work on laser guided weapons, Steve Ward is the only human alive capable of weaving this techno-aviation-thriller. Winner of innovation awards from NASA and the Department of Defense, Steve Ward spins an action packed adventure in the space shuttle. Real life scenes depict death-defying bravery in the cockpit and expose untold secrets of astronaut peril. Achieving Astronaut-Commander at the tender age of 29, Christina is pitted between a NASA conspiracy and a terrorist plot to bring the world’s greatest power to her knees. As she hopes to become the first astronaut on Mars, her dreams are interrupted by the tragic loss of her husband and a war with Iranian terrorists. Will space shuttle disaster, torture and mental calamity rein back the dreams of the greatest female pilot who ever lived? Or will true love conquer all? Michael Jacobs, a bright young astronaut helps Christina unravel a terrorist attack and fight a nuclear battle in orbit. Test Pilot’s Daughter: Dead Reckoning will launch you into space.

Can I take a breath now...please. holy hell, that was some first chapter. I stopped long enough to back it and I'm going back in..Totally rivetting Steve.

You have this one nailed shut for a shuttle ride to the ED. if justice prevails it will be a very fast trip.
Excuse me gotta go and read more more and more, of this. Then i may have a Valium milkshake.

I adore it when I find a sequel that I can plunge into without having read the first and still be painfully engrossed. That said, upon glancing over the first one (and it's very deserving of the star) I was thrilled by the consistency of your detail and your excellent characterisation in Christina, I'm hooked. It's hard not to be envious of someone who has not only excelled in the career but can then turn to fiction with such enviable panache, but it is clear that your expertise take this into the realmof great fiction.

If there were things to be improved, I was too busy reading the story to notice. Talk about completely absorbing, and my dad, an ex aerospace engineer (of aircraft, admittedly, rather than spacecraft) would lap this up with as much gusto as I have.

Wonderful work, Steve.

This is a good story. You've obviously put a lot of research into this and it shows. You have a good heroine in Christina. She's feisty and determined and the type of character a reader wants to follow to the end to see how all of this plays out. I’m adding this to my shelf. Burgio (Grain of Salt).

Oh, Chris, this is flawless stuff. I can certainly see why you already achieved a star for your previous book. The writing is pitch perfect and completely immersed me into Christina's world. A world that both intrigues and terrifies me, It is clear that you know this subject inside out, and your ability to fuse your experiences into a fast pace thriller, with a spunky heroine, I might add, is sublime. However, you can have all the relevant experience in the world and still not be able to write fantastic, page-turning prose. But you can. I think it's just a matter of time before immense success comes a callin'. Well done.x

Hello Steve, I've got round to reading your second, at last. I like it a lot. What a first chapter: it is one of the most exciting openings I've read for ages, and knowing your last offering, it will probably continue in that vein throughout the book. It will go the way of your first story, of that I'm certain. I want to read on and on...but I'm going down to Cornwall tomorrow for several days, so I'll read more next week, so I must go and pack...
But, in the meantime, it is going on my SHELF because it deserves to be there. The best of British luck with this, but of course you don't need it.

Fantastic. Exciting, heart-pumping, brilliantly written. What a way to start! So good that the two typos I found stick out: flatulent, I think, should be flatulence and helmut for helmet (prob easiest to do a word find!) Backed your previous book, backing this one too. Tania, This Last Summer

Bloody hell! Your first chapter was so vivid I could feel the terror, feel the panic and smell the sweat of fear. Brilliant.
Backed.

Wow Steve, this is a literal rocket ride! It starts full bore and just keeps going. I love it! It especially speaks to me as the last chapter of my book Eye of The Destroyer has the protagonist racing a team of bad guys in the Soyuz to the ISS in a Space Shuttle in an effort to stop them from sabotaginging the ISS to maintain control of a secret space based weapons system hidden in the Active Thermal Control System on the S1 truss. Bottom line, stuff goes bad and he needs to evacuate in an experimental escape pod. I would be interested in your take on Chaper 12 if you wish to look at it. Gladly backed your exciting book!
