The Cinderella Curse

J.L. Penn

This is the hilarious tale of a girl who whacks a witch, gets cursed, and becomes a pumpkin at midnight. Sound strange? She thinks so!

Cindy had a fairy tale life – well, not literally – but she was pretty and popular. Then one fateful autumn day, while picking apples, she encountered a real-life witch. After accidentally clocking the witch on the head with her basket of apples, the angry witch put a spell on her. As Cindy would soon find out, she was destined to live out her nights turning into a pumpkin at midnight. Talk about a crimp in your social life!

There is only one antidote for Cindy’s terrible curse - if only she knew what it was. Hilarity ensues as Cindy attempts to lead a normal life as a part-time pumpkin.

THIS IS A NOVELLA. THE COMPLETE VERSION IS ON AMAZON & SMASHWORDS. IF YOU ONLY HAVE TIME TO READ ONE OF MY PROJECTS, PLEASE READ REUNION, AS IT'S MY PRIMARY FOCUS. THANKS!

JLP The Cinderella Curse is delightfully refreshing but I agree it is too fast in a way - dialogue makes everything a bit more realistic and accessible - but excellent writing and backed with stars. Balepy (Freckles the Fawn)

Funny, flighty and absurd. So nice to read something that's just different and makes me laugh. I know lots of readers in the school I work in who this is perfect for. Good stuff.

Great concept but you told too much of it so it went too quickly. Spread it out with more conversations than just telling us what happened.

Well, your voice is outstanding, I finished this story in one sitting. The idea is awsome and needs to be published for people to read. I'm going to keep your book on my shelf for a while and give it a five star rating.

Have a good day.

This is an absolute howler. I love fantasy comedy, and this is a particularly clever example of its kind. Good luck, you deserve it.

Dear J.L., I love all of the twists in your fairy tale - what a wonderful creative mind you have. :) Your pitch is excellent, so set the hook for me to read your book. :) When you use short paragraphs & lots of dialogue, it makes me want to keep reading to find out what's going to happen next. I'm backing your book. :)
Could you please take a moment to back my TWO memoir books? Thanks, Susie :)

This is information from authonomy (so beware of any other untrue information you may receive that is spam & not quotes of authonomy):
"When you back a book, it only improves the ranking of that book, not yours. However, the author whose book you are backing may decide to back your book also, in which case yes, your ranking would be improved"...authonomy quote.
"Every time you place a book on your bookshelf, your recommendation pushes the book up the rankings. And while that book sits on your bookshelf, your reputation as a talent spotter increases depending on how well that book performs.

This is brilliant and very clever. It really made me think that perhaps Cindy comes from the name Cinderella and in the fairy tale why is the coach made from a pumpkin, the symbol for halloween. Anyway, brilliant story telling, funny and witty. I love when she's turned into a pumpkin, hilarious, excellent dry sense of humour throughout, brilliant and backed.

This is delicious chick lit. I love how imaginative the story is. It's entertaining and witty and had me laughing out loud at times! You really know how to contrive the perfect man - Brad Pitt bone structure, Johnny Depp eyes and Bradley Cooper's smile? You almost had me swooning! Loved it!
