I could see this being popular with children between the agreas of 8-14.
There is so much in this that is great. I love the dialogue, the characters, the name of the book, the premise.
This is delightful and I am shocked that it is not further up the ranks.
I think the setting of Egypt is really what pulled me in. It seems like a distant far away land and in reality it exists. Doesn't Egypt seem like a place that would be created within a fantasy novel? I think it is a perfect setting and I think you really did a keen job of conveying the magic of this land.

Rejection slips defeat many writers, and they give up. Others get angry, and rise to the challenge, writing better and better books, and that's what you have done. This is superb. The story will have great appeal to your target age group, and your language is picthed perfectly: well within the reading abilities of the avereage child, while at the same time extending their understanding of both words and concepts. The combination of witchcraft and egyptology is inspired and capitivating, and you maintain a good pace throughout. Backed with pleasure. Best wishes, Tony.

Egyptology is a secret love of mine, and I find their whole empire fascinating. I also think that stories that mystify their rituals and glorify them to almost God-like levels are fantastic too. So, I am pleased to announce that I approve of this book :-P
It is easy to read, full of adventure from the get go, and just good fun really. As indeed you say, Egypt is a land of intrigue and mystery, and you open a doorway to that mystery very well.

Hi Tracey,

I just finished your first chapter and I love this story so far. It's a great fantasy filled with suspense and mystery.

The characters are well-defined and the story moves along at a good pace. My only nitpick is the abundance of adverbs used. I would go back and mark through all the adverbs and re-read without them. Then, decide which ones add impact and are necessary and plug them back in. Just a suggestion.

I am happy to back based on the overall concept and potential. Best of luck to you :)

Cheers!

Hullo Tracey...
just finished reading the first chapter and I think it's great so far. The mysteries of Ancient Egypt have always hooked me.
But I found something annoying (but I think you must have your reasons) in the first chapter. The conversation between Isobel and her Grandma is interrupted too much as it gets interesting. I think your readers would be more captivated if the conversation about the Serpent of Anata flows on without any interruption. But of course, that's my point of view.
One more thing... I have the hunch that Edith is involved in something fishy; probably something related to the revival of Sekhmet. I'm I right?
Well I'll sure keep reading more of it... and... Shelved!

Hi Tracey. the combination of witchcraft and archaeology has me hooked before I start. btw I assume you mean combining rather than combing in the pitch. I know, you try to upload the thing and there's all these other things you have to provide. watch out for the formatting (which sometimes goes wrong when uploading) I think there's a title where there shouldn't be. this takes off for me when we get into the Black Pond - wonderful colourful pictures. this is going to take a quick turn on my shelf. it may not stay long as I'm having a reshuffle but you keep the vote. Ali.

Hi Tracey. Sorry took me so long
This was a good read! Reminded me of The Indiana Jones series. you have a good knowledge her of everything Egypt and it shines through. You have the same problem I did...your chapters cut into the writing.Try and check this out.The pace was good, well written dialogue, especially the young boy in the lake. I liked Edith..well done.
Thanks for ltting me read and good luck!

Hello Tracey,
Thanks for getting back to me. I wrote the email address like that because I've been told that if you write it normally, spyware can pick it up and pass it to spammers. If it still doesn't make sense, tell me and I'll do it properly.

Hello Tracey,
I picked this book because I have visited the Valley of the Kings and agree with you, Egypt is the land of intrigue, mystery, spells, mysterious plots and murder.

I am enjoying it so far, (chapter headings were a bit confusing so I ignored them) and have put it on my bookshelf to read more of later.

Well done for self publishing. I'd love to hear how you got on with that, if you have the time. Was it easy? My email is
