Dr Massey is, as others have said, a wonderful character. You capture the essence of the era with ease through powerful description and well-crafted vocabulary. You do an excellent job crafting discrete, yet interwoven shorts. The only thing I'd recommend is watching out for commas around direct address. "Excuse me[,] Dr Massey." would be correct.

Other than this is good, firm work, and backed with pleasure.

This is very good...The well-drawn Doctor Massay is likeable...the narration and descriptive power of the writer both immerse the reader in the scenes...

You should cut the word "extraordinary" from the opening line though. It makes readers expect too much from the book.

Every reader has his own version of what "extraordinary" should be.

Hi Pride, I like this Doctor Massey in the Victorian time – his POV is surprisingly certain about his sudden patient’s condition and he is so confidant that he does the total health in becoming involved with the emotional issues. The history of Orian pulled me in also. The first story portends that the series is well-worth pursuing as the visiting doctor’s work then could be like a amiable investigator’s. Well-told! Happy to shelve – Katherine (The Swan Bonnet)

It's one of the loveliest stories on Authonomy. There are a few typos -eg- 'a right' for 'aright' but the whole tone is so convincing and the dialogue so very much of the time,it could have been written by a Victorian.
Only one thing, I would have preferred a bit of a description about the interior of the castle. I love to picture interiors. But your characters are as clear as day. Gorgeous. Backed. Lynn

A look at Sicilian Shadows would be greatly appreciated.

If you back my work, you may also want to approach BJD (a big supporter of Sicilian Shadows) for a further possible backing of your book.

Dear Pride, I love your short story - I thought I had read them before, but my comment's not at the bottom & the other stories are not here. Before I began to read your book, I was prepared by your pitch, which was very well done, hooking me - wishing all of the stories were here. I notice you have a 2nd book which I'll also back. :) Your story is good because you create interest by having short paragraphs & lots of dialogue, which makes me want to keep reading to find out what's going to happen next. :) "When you back a book, it only improves the ranking of that book, not yours. However, the author whose book you are backing may decide to back your book also, in which case yes, your ranking would be improved"...authonomy quote. :) Please "back" my TWO memoir books, "He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not" & my completed memoir unedited version? "Tell Me True Love Stories," which tells at the end, my illness now & 6th abusive marriage." Thanks, Susie :)
additional authonomy quote: "Every time you place a book on your bookshelf, your recommendation pushes the book up the rankings. And while that book sits on your bookshelf, your reputation as a talent spotter increases depending on how well that book performs." :)
