Fallen Angel

David G McDaniel

Jessica’s world is turned upside down when a mysterious man falls from the sky in a ball of flames, bringing an incredible mystery with him.

In the vein of Harry Potter, Twilight, The Hunger Games and other popular series, Fallen Angel is a tale for all ages. Packed with intense action sequences, large-scale battles and all else, Fallen Angel is, at the same time, a deeply romantic tale. You might describe it as "Twilight meets Halo". Definitely a potent mix. The romantic will find the action bearable, if not downright fun; a natural extension of the love story within. Conversely, the action fan will, in the midst of the excitement, find themselves touched by the depth of the characters and the trials they face.

Fallen Angel is the tale of a teenage girl who's catapulted from a very normal life into an entirely alien world, which is in the midst of a planetary war. Her journey to self-discovery, to finding the hero within amid this tapestry of conflict, sets the pace. Like The Wizard of Oz she draws to herself a cast of supporting characters who come to believe in her, even as her determination and resolution win the day.

And of course, throughout it all, is the tale of her pursuit of a love that can never be.

Fallen Angel was well polished free of the editorial mistakes I often run across and well paced. Not what I was expecting- started feeling fantasy and then turning in to sci-fi. Great hooks at end of chapters. It seems that you have billed this as complete- but I don't think it is- and it sure doesn't seem like there is 116,000+ here. I would love to read more. On my watch list and 5 stars. Thanks for sharing a wonderful story. Desi.

I love that this starts in Boise! Great town, not too far from my neck of the woods. Other than that, your writing is very strong and you have woven a magical tale. I was hooked right from the beginning, who can resist 'Twilight meets Halo'! The characters are great and Jessica will win over a lot of fans. We're all going to be invested in her story and the adventure ahead. After three chapters I'm already dying know how this goes from here on out. I'm going to skip around the remaining chapters to see how it develops! I didn't see anything that needed help but I was a little distracted by the story.

Good luck with this! It's awesome

Welcome aboard, David. This website will improve your writing craft, if you allow it. I'm a bit of a pitch doctor, having read thousands of pitches in my time on this website, so I want to share my insight here with you. You have to think of your pitches as your sales tool to grab the casual reader's eyes. Both pitches work. Perfecting your pitches is how you climb in ranking to gather more exposure and comments to better your novel. The writing is good so I am SHELVING you.

Though I have been a very active member for over a year and have the most commented book on the website, I can still use your comments on my book when you get the chance. Every little bit helps. Cheers!

Hello David, mmm what a great short pitch. Your long pitch I have a suggestion and it is only a suggestion. That is to put paras in as this is the first read your possible publishers will have of your book , and it gives the impression of being very long. Someone gave me this advice and it worked well for me... Your book has everything and as you say in so many words, a very popular topic. I found it to be well crafted and vivid, with a cover that will attract many for sure...... I would not normally read a book in this genre, but you know I promised myself that I would step across to another genre, and review for skill etc. one cannot just discard a climbing author just because of genre.....BACKED for sure.......I would just love you to step across to my genre and review my book, COMMENTS are so welcome even if it is only the skill etc.... and if you see fit, BACK it.

BEST of luck with yours

FALLEN ANGEL
This is an interesting story in the way it begins in Boise, Idaho and then shifts to a totally different fantasy world when the angel falls out of the sky. Makes a great contrast. I like the way Jessica and Bianca decide the first thing they should do is get the angel some clothes; good adolescent behavior. And pulls in a reader to continue reading. I’m adding this to my shelf. Burgio (Grain of Salt).

This reads very well and got through 5 chapters staright off. Jessica, Toby and Bianca are all very well described and quickly come to life on the page. You do teenspeak very well and the banter and affection between people is brought off nicely. Then you get to the big event and it is a real crowd puller - shades of superman there, which amused me.
This is a well written example of a popular genre with enough original touches to intrigue and involve the reader.

Dear David, I love the ball of fire falling out of the sky - it reminds me of Terminator TV Series :) - which was my very favorite & they cancelled after 3 seasons. :( Your story brings it back to life, I was happy to see with another wonderful heroine. :) Your pitch is excellent, so set the hook for me to read your book. :) When you use short paragraphs & lots of dialogue, it makes me want to keep reading to find out what's going to happen next. I'm backing your book. :) Could you please take a moment to back my TWO memoir books? Thanks. :) Love, Susie :)

This is information from authonomy (so beware of any other untrue information you may receive that is spam & not quotes of authonomy):
"When you back a book, it only improves the ranking of that book, not yours. However, the author whose book you are backing may decide to back your book also, in which case yes, your ranking would be improved"
"Every time you place a book on your bookshelf, your recommendation pushes the book up the rankings. And while that book sits on your bookshelf, your reputation as a talent spotter increases depending on how well that book performs."
backed :)
Love, Susie :)
