If Only Today: Inspirational Messages for Everyday of the Year

Shontel Stanford

If Only Today will transform you from a defeated life to a victorious life through daily inspiring messages of hope in Christ.

In a time where most of the world is struggling to find hope a word of encouragement is long overdue. People are longing for love and acceptance yet with all that they have they still struggle with an emptiness that they are searching to fill. I have found myself in that very same search until I found my love, Jesus Christ. If Only Today is a collection of 366 short messages to give you hope and inspire you to draw closer to the Lord. You will find joy and peace in the truth that Gods’ love is unending and all He wants is to be close to you. “These messages kept me strong through my period of homelessness. They’ve given me peace and conformation from God on days I was struggling to give it all to Him. They helped me to know I have a right to His promises for me and my children.” J. Washington “Your daily messages mean the world to me. When I’m going through a tough time they brighten up my day. They give me strength, hope, and the power to strive for a stronger relationship with God.” E. Shelton

Thanks Brenda! That's something I thought of after it had already been published but I am looking into revising it with the scriptures and getting it edited by someone else because I'm sure they'll catch things I don't even though I read and reread multiple times. :)

I enjoyed this! The only thing you might want to consider is to put a scripture with each of your writings...many appropriate verses could easily accompany your writing. Also, you need to watch the ending of some of your words...forgot some ed, and s endings. Otherwise a very inspirational read!

Inspirational and meditative writing, without dragging the reader down into philosophy. You have struck up a perfect balance of thoughtful and evocative exposition and explanation.

Backed with pleasure.

Dear Shontel,
Such and inspirational read, with powerful messages. I have to back this work for the skill and talent, even if I dont fully comprehend the content. But that is the beauty of this site. It is not just about whether we believe or not but to comment on the skill of the author. Otherwise we would never read Alice in Wonderland, or childrens stories like Beatrice Potter. BACKED FOR SURE BY ME AND BEST OF LUCK WITH YOUR BOOK
I would love you to review my book, different genre but like me cross over and comment on the craft or skill . and please comment and if you feel back my work.
again thank you for a good read best of luck

Welcome aboard, Shontel. This website will improve your writing craft, if you allow it. I'm a bit of a pitch doctor, having read thousands of pitches in my time on this website, so I want to share my insight here with you. You have to think of your pitches as your sales tool to grab the casual reader's eyes. The short pitch works for this genre. The long pitch needs to be broken down into smaller paragraphs so it reads faster. Perfecting your pitches is how you climb in ranking to gather more exposure and comments to better your novel. The writing is good so I am SHELVING you.

Though I have been a very active member for over a year and have the most commented book on the website, I can still use your comments on my book when you get the chance. Every little bit helps. Cheers!

IF ONLY TODAY
This book is a step by step guide to better spiritual health. I think you’ll find an audience for this who will be able to find an item that feels as if it was written especially for them because of the varied entries and practical and easy to read way you’ve written it. I’m adding this to my shelf. Burgio (Grain of Salt).

Suzie Q , thank you very much! The daily message book I'm working on now actually does have the scripture as well.

Dear Shontel, I love your prayer at the beginning - full of the scriptures. :) I just read Romans, today (see my profile). :) Your pitch is excellent, so set the hook for me to read your book. :) When you use short paragraphs, it makes me want to keep reading to find out what you wll be saying next :) beautiful encouragements - the only thing I would change is to add a scripture to each day. I have a lot of daily devotions, most gotten at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa Book Store - some I've received as gifts. :) I'm backing your book. :) Could you please take a moment to back my TWO memoir/testimon books? Thanks. :) Love, Susie :)

This is information from authonomy (so beware of any other untrue information you may receive that is spam & not quotes of authonomy):
"When you back a book, it only improves the ranking of that book, not yours. However, the author whose book you are backing may decide to back your book also, in which case yes, your ranking would be improved"
"Every time you place a book on your bookshelf, your recommendation pushes the book up the rankings. And while that book sits on your bookshelf, your reputation as a talent spotter increases depending on how well that book performs."

Contrary Texan -thanks I will do that.

I read the first two chapters and found them to be uplifting and inpirational. You sometimes have a tendency to use run-on sentences and have a few issues with verb tense. I would suggest a good proofing, or perhaps let someone else read it aloud to you to help with the punctuation issues. Backed with pleasure.

elires1067-These were written by me; inspired by the holy spirit. The only quotes by others are from J. Washington and E. Shelton (two of the people who receive my daily text messages) expressing how the messages have helped them.

I must have missed something...Who wrote these quotes? It says in the pitch that you 'found them' but in 13 pages I couldn't find a single author name.
I've always wanted to do a collection of quotes, but didn't because you need to get permission.
I do wish you luck, but please add author names to the individual quotes.

Thanks a lot lynn clayton! Since this was the first daily message book I complied and published there was a lot I wish I would've done. #1-get an editor lol but first my next one I will have a few people look it over because sometimes I type too fast and don't notice my errors.

My mother used to have a book simiar to this which she kept by her bed and read a bit every night. These aphorisms flow beautifully, so much so that they might seem easy to compose. But first you've got to have the thought behind them and that's the thing difficult to come by. I'm very impressed with these and the love that's inspired them. Backed with best wishes, Lynn
PS At the beginning of month three, 'All God askS..' you've missed the 's'.
