Embrace of the Midnight Rose

Lauren Diana Smith

A woman without a past pays a price for her new life with blood. Only her handsome rescuer holds the key to her past.

Murdered by a ruthless vampire and left to suffer the painful transformation to immortality alone, Abigail struggles to endure her new life and thirst for blood.

Rescued by the handsome and enigmatic Peter Gray, she learns through his sharing of a story that she is the last of ancient bloodline that he has sworn to protect.

Her death and rebirth in blood is only the final step in the game between Peter and his enemy Giovanni, the price: possession of Abigail’s soul.

In a twisted triangle of lust, murder and love, they fight for control over Abigail and the new powers she wields.

Despite Abigail’s growing love for Peter, a ghost of woman long dead lingers between them, helping Giovanni fight for Abigail’s body and soul in ways she hadn’t thought possible.

In a race against time, Abigail has to find a way to defeat Giovanni and break his hold on her or else Peter and everyone she holds dear will die…

I enjoyed your rich prose. Why isn't this manuscript higher in the ranks? Rated high and it's on my watchlist.

Hello, I am writing to you as someone who has been kind enough to support the Firelord’s Crown in the recent past. Now I need your help once more. I have been on site for nearly 2 years and worked my way up through reading and commenting on books. I have always been uncomfortable with ‘spamming’ and tit-for-tat backings but I do feel able to ask if you could please support Firelord by shelving it for a while over the next month. Under the new system I cannot offer you anything but an immediate * star rating and the promise of whatever support you feel you need; a second reading or comment etc. if you do not feel able to put Firelord back on your shelf, please could you still *rate it for me?
Many, many thanks!
Regards,
Jim Darcy

Thoroughly enjoyed what you`ve posted so far, it`s visual, emotive and full of unique nuances. I loved Peter, he`s brooding, tortured and sexy. I`m a huge fan of this genre and your story didn`t let me down. I`d happily read the rest, so I await future chapters...Backed with pleasure.

Good luck,
Cerys (Bradan)

You have crafted a most interesting and compelling storyline and your use of imagery is excellent. I do like your use of the first person narrative voice as this allows you to build Abigail's character very well. All of this coupled with your imaginative writing style makes your work a pleasure to read. Backed.

'The first night of forever' - there's a scary thought. I'm not usually a reader of this genre but it's well written and I can see it gaining a following.

An appreciation of movies and music contributing to the creation of a novel involving an extremely hot portion of the marketplace makes this work a winner. Backed. Chuck (Paperboy Adventures & Literary Agent Blues & Uboat Officer)

Welcome aboard, Lauren. This website will improve your writing craft, if you allow it. I'm a bit of a pitch doctor, having read thousands of pitches in my time on this website, so I want to share my insight here with you. You have to think of your pitches as your sales tool to grab the casual reader's eyes. The short pitch works better if you use the MC's name. The long pitch would work better if you end with a question. Perfecting your pitches is how you climb in ranking to gather more exposure and comments to better your novel. The writing is good so I am SHELVING you.

Though I have been a very active member for over a year and have the most commented book on the website, I can still use your comments on my book when you get the chance. Every little bit helps. Cheers!

EMBRACE OF THE MIDNIGHT ROSE
This is an interesting story. Abigail is a good main character. She’s likable and certainly sympathetic because she’s been turned into a vampire. The story is so typical of the genre, I think you’ll find an audience for this among young adult fantasy fans. I’ll shelve it. Burgio (Grain of Salt).

Smithy,
Love the first four chapters - though I am biased, since I know the ending ... Anyways - I am thrilled for these reviews! Cannot wait to see the rest of your stuff up here! :)

This is a very well written book that quickly involves the reader. I handed it over to my Twilight-loving offspring and she said that she 'totally related' to Abigail and that this was a 'cool' book. I guess that means she likes it!

Dear Lauren,
You have obviously done a lot of research for this. It is a well crafted read that really took me to another place. I thought oh no not another vampire please, however you really have crafted a different type of book that your pitch promised and you fulfilled CONGRATS for sure. BACKED BY ME.
I would love you to review my book, different genre but like me cross over and comment on the craft or skill . and please comment and if you feel back my work.
again thank you for a good read best of luck

Dear Lauren, Well, here I am backing your 2nd book - just as intriguing as you 1st one - I love Peter's heroism & love for the heroine - she's a fighter & I rooting that they'll win in the end. :) Your nice crisp paragraphs & dialogue make for an enjoyable read. :) Love, Susie :) We have already backed each other's 1st books. :) Could you please take a moment to back my other memoir book, "Tell Me True Love Stories?" Thanks. :) Love, Susie :)
