THE BRAIN BROKERS

Robert J. Sherwood

In this second story, Dawson's path crosses with a billionaire Greek geneticist who tries to control the smartest people in America.

In this story, Dawson uncovers a scheme to track and control the lives of the smartest people in America. Maggie Sawyer a 12 year old girl, who scored a perfect score on the college entrance exams, is kidnapped and held for ransom. Maggie’s grandfather, James Sawyer knows the identities of the famous 1521 subjects who took part in the 1921 Terman study of profoundly gifted Americans.

Although it was 90 years ago, the Terman subject’s grandchildren, like Maggie, are all valuable commodities to be traded between nations and international corporations. Intelligence is the commodity war that replaces the cold war of the 80’s.

Dawson’s path crosses with a dangerous billionaire Greek geneticist who launches a program to identify all people with an IQ greater than 150. From Darwin’s theory of evolution to challenging basic DNA understandings, the story engages the reader in genuine issues of personal privacy and in elist theories of government.

D&Z partners with Dawson team up with Jonathan Hawthorn, the retired charismatic Alaska Governor to rescue Maggie and protect the identities of the smartest Americans from The Brain Brokers.

Hi. I only had time to brows through your work. I found the story interesting and plan to return for more reading and a detailed comment. As I’m very much pressed for time, tell me which chapter you want me to pay special attention to.
Meanwhile, could you please check TO KILL A DEAD MAN? I will appreciate it.

Hi Robert, I liked the crafting of the opening – very intriguing and with the premise introduction there. Maggie’s kidnapping turns the pages as has the monetary motive behind this. Dawson’s role and his legal dialogue are a little more difficult to follow however the DNA issue and his discovery of the killings embroil the plot. I was fascinated. Happy to shelve – Katherine (The Swan Bonnet)

Welcome aboard, Robert. This website will improve your writing craft, if you allow it. I'm a bit of a pitch doctor, having read thousands of pitches in my time on this website, so I want to share my insight here with you. You have to think of your pitches as your sales tool to grab the casual reader's eyes. Both pitches work. Perfecting your pitches is how you climb in ranking to gather more exposure and comments to better your novel.

Though I have been a very active member for over a year and have the most commented book on the website, I can still use your comments on my book when you get the chance. Every little bit helps. Cheers!

THE BRAIN BROKERS
This is an interesting story. The premise is intriguing: what would happen if a child was kidnapped, not because her parents were wealthy but because she was super intelligent? You have a good detective in Dawson; he’s likable and, unlike a lot of detectives in stories, gets right to the problem here without a lot of back story he feels he has to reveal first. Makes this a good read. I’m adding it to my shelf. Burgio (Grain of Salt).

Hi Robert,

Just read your first chapter, an excellent beginning. Though very compressed, it's all there--the principal characters, the menace, and plenty of tension. A little girl is kidnapped, thousands are threatened, and Dawson is primed to go into action. I, too--to back your thriller. Of course, I have to go on faith that you'll finish it, pace it well, maintain the quality, but that's how it works here. And you've passed the acid test: Do I want to read on? Absolutely. Inexorably. This one is a winner!

Dear Robert,
What a well crafted pitch both the long and short. You have done much research for this book I feel as it shows. I do love your book cover and it was the first thing that attracted me to your work so CONGRATS on that. This is a very exciting book and though I have not read it all I have been seduced so far so will continue.BACKED by me for sure. This is not my genre but I am so glad I crossed over for the talent and skill.
My book is of a different genre but that is the beauty of this site, and if you could find the time to go through and 'comment', on my work, I would be so happy, as this will enable me to improve as a writer. and if you so feel back it. Again BEST OF LUCK with your book

Dear Robert, Well, I backed your 1st book & am now backing this one - glad you got a sequel - hope there's another one. Take over the world with high IQs - that's amazing - you may be on to something. :) Your paragraphs are concise & easy to read, so it was enjoyable - intriguing, too, to say the least. What a great mind you have. :) Love, Susie :) p.s. Hope you'll take a moment to back my 2 memoir books. :)
