H INVERSE

H

A rhyming recollection, in retrospection, and observations, over many years of fun.

Pick any poem and have a look
It's good, I'm biased though
Because I wrote the book
SNOW PLOuGH DRIVERS
How does the snow plough driver get to work if it snowed in the night?
WASHING THE DISHES
Why, when washing the dishes and feeling in the bowl with both hands, when you tip the water out there is always a teaspoon left in there.

I CANNOT IMAGINE
What it must be like
Looking at a computer screen
until you retire at fifty three
having learnt all the latest technology
never noticed the seasons change
a treat that nature does arrange
the only green to red you have observed
is the traffic lights you have incurred
when racing from A to B
talking to people who have
demanded that you must see
in case you miss an opportunity
academically sound
in all aspects of living
no good at giving or forgiving
in the university of life

To Set a Prescedent is my favourite so far. I will happily admit that much of what you have written goes right over my head but I am enjoying the journey and look forward to reading more.

Hi H,

I have felt for a long while that there is not enough poetry on this site, what you present us with here is eclectic, sometimes silly, sometimes sad, sometimes making us think, sometimes simply frivolity. Observational writing is tough enough, setting that to the straightjacket of rhyme is even more difficult. You pull this off well, I have dipped in and out for the last few days now and have read everything you have uploaded and I have to say I am very impressed. Don't ask me to pick a favourite, but I must say, if I was forced to, it would be the cheeky ones, the silly ones, the ones where you play with us as much as the words.

Best wishes and good luck, thank you for helping me smile on this chilly morning

Dipping in to read some of your poems. They're such a lovely reflection of who you appear to be. I like the philosophical ones best - the ones that seem to shed light on your positive sunny nature (regardless of the weather!!!) I love all the poems you leave me. You are the star. :-)

Hi Charles! I popped in and out amongst your poems, which seems to me to be the proper way to read 'em -- light, gentle stuff with occasional bite (but a rather kindly bite, I must say) and whimsy. Some of the cultural references left me totally at sea (as I am American), and I could understand pretty much, I have to admit, nothing about what was going on; but then the little remarks on aging or lardy young mothers and such of course have a wider, general resonance! HA, anyway, as I admitted to you before, I think, I have pretty much no understanding of or ear for poetry (barring Blake and Donne and Poe and a very few others who manage to hammer through even MY dull sensibilities) -- but the gentle tone here is very likable and appealing!
