Legacy of the Last Elf

Anna Elizabeth Williams

A tale of bloodthirsty revenge where the world falls into the claws of evil. Only one elf can be the difference between peace and destruction...

The Temple of Prophecy has been protecting the world from the dangers of prophecy for thousands of years, under the rule of the mysterious and supposedly immortal Abbot. They watch over the chosen children of the Gods of Prophecy, named the Prophet Children. The Abbot and his loyal monks have been ensuring the world’s safety from the Prophet Children’s enemies, who are destined for evil and horrific deeds. But when another prophecy arises, even the Abbot himself may find himself in too deep. An evil mage has risen and taken control of the Westland, the feared and dreaded Lady Fayrema is determined to see that the Westland is hers. When she sends her armies to attack the Elven city, Vermilimor’e, the Elves are slaughtered mercilessly and murdered. All but one. Fabien, a fourteen year old elf is the last elf left alive after the horrific attack at the hand of the world’s most powerful mage. Fabien is determined to avenge his beloved Elven race and swears to kill the infamous and powerful Lady Fayrema. Only during his journey does Fabien learn that his destiny lies beyond his call for vengeance…

I think this will be a good fit for the YA market. Just needs a little fine tuning. Backing!

i loved the storyline. the action is intense.

i do have a few nitpicks. some of your dialogue sentences are missing punctuation. chapter one: '. . . Thank you Berheall' Fabian smiled it should read ' . . . Thank you(,) Berheall(,)' Fabian smiled(.) all direct address in dialogue should have a comma name/nickname/endearments/etc. some of your other sentences are missing punctuation as well.

Hi Anna, The style is brisk and there’s the low-key humor in Fabian’s impulses, getting the pup and his dialogue with Rolf. Lady Fayrema is so awful that she’s funny. But the plot with her killing the elves isn’t that and you’ve handled Fabian’s dilemma with the sadness of his plight. His not being identified immediately as an elf is complelling. Happy to shelve – Katherine (The Swan Bonnet)

Dear Anna,
Your pitch is really good, but I think you might break it into paragraphs for more white space and easier reading. Otherwise, very nice!

LEGACY OF THE LAST ELF
This is an interesting story. You’ve obviously spent a lot of time creating this fantasy world and it shows in the way you’re able to describe fine details about your settings and characters. You have a lot of back story you need to explain in order to orient your reader and you handle that well by creating a good mix of dialogue and descriptions. I’m happy to add this to my shelf. If you have a moment, would you look at mine (Grain of Salt)? I’m in 3rd place but only holding on by my teeth. Burgio

As a teacher I am well qualified to say what it is that the YA audience appreciate (sometimes getting them to read is like negotiating a frightened hedghog silently through a room filled with inflated balloons) and they would love this. I would certainly have been happy to add it to my classroom shelf but here on Authonomy I have only one thing close. So...

You have written a very exciting and interesting storyline and created a most memorable main character in Fabien. The dialogue is well written, the pace of the story flows nicely and I do like your use of imagery. This and your imaginative writing ensures that your fantasy will appeal to the YA audience. Backed with pleasure.

Hi Anna, I'm sure YA fantasy lovers will enjoy your book a lot.

'When she sends her armies to attack the Elven city, Vermilimor’e, the Elves are slaughtered mercilessly and murdered. All but one. Fabien, a fourteen year old (elf is the last elf left alive after the horrific attack at the hand of the world’s most powerful mage.)'

sentence one and sentence two seem repetitive and could end after 'fourteen year old'.

I hope this is helpful.

BACKED.

Best wishes,
Barry

Dear Anna, I love your fast moving fantasy of the elves, monks, & the mage :) - what a read! :) The best thing about fantasy is that anything & everything can happen :) - & does. :) My only suggestion would be to cut your longer paragraphs in 2 or many more for a more enjoyable read. :) I've backed your book :) - hope you'll take a moment to back my 2 memor books. :) Thanks. :) Love, Susie :)

"Every time you place a book on your bookshelf, your recommendation pushes the book up the rankings. And while that book sits on your bookshelf, your reputation as a talent spotter increases depending on how well that book performs."
