DEAD BY TUESDAY

Louis Gallo

A series of comic but bittersweet stories about the varied minor and major catastrophes of everyday life.

These stories have all been published in journals such as Glimmer Train, the anthology Wide Awake in the Pelican State (LSU), Sojourn, The Ledge and so on. Some have been nominated for Pushcart Prizes and one, BODIES IN MOTION, won the annual Greensboro Review fiction award. Again, the stories convey mainly a voice, a sensibility reacting to the ceaseless minor, and major, blows of everyday life. The stories are mostly comic in nature, but the comedy is usually black. The volume is available on Amazon, as POD, in slightly different form. I have had to go at this version chapter by chapter, and thus with no page numbers, and varied sometimes obsolete files. I will only post the first four or five stories of the book here; they should give you an idea of the content. I want time to try to post a few other books, or, at least, portions of books.

Your brilliant, comedic short story grabbed me and kept me riveted. Credible characters with emotional depth. Crisp dialogue. Confident narration. Spot on wit. Vital, thought provoking writing. I absolutely love this thoughtfully composed story. Backed.

Lovely thoughtful writing, I really enjoyed Bodies in Motion, especially your very last line.
This made me want to read more, presumably why this is here.
Best of luck and Backed.

Well done . . . though not a surprise given your vocation.

Louis, It takes a special talent to take what everyone is thinking even when they don't know they are thinking it, and turn it into an entertaining, yet thought provoking enjoyable read. The rat race is something we all wish we could quit, some have found that serenity, while others chase their tail, and you my friend have taken your gift and given those who had that annoying voice yammering in the back of their mind, and given it a name "Bodies in Motion" and it is done brilliantly....I will be back for more when I am feeling better and have time. Keeping it on my watch list, continued success. Patricia aka Colmbia Layers of the Heart

THanks, Andrew, alway good to get positive feedback. I will back you. Lou

You have written very interesting and unique storylines, sprinkled with nice touches of humour, which I do like. The dialogue in your stories is realistic and well written and the pace of your stories flow well. All of this along with your descriptive writing makes your work a pleasure to read. Backed.

Apart from a problem with the upload resulting in some weird typography, these stories look to me like fine, high-spirited literary fiction told in a variety of narrative voices that invite further reading. Backed.

You and I are exceptions to Kurt Vonnegut's broad characterization of English professors who don't write much because they have such good taste they can't stand anything they write.

Yes, it was goblins. I saw the same dream. Then the idea of Absolute Rest is one I've had so often and I end up running around doing tons of little takes from the newness of the resting has worn off. I guess what I'm trying to convey is that I enjoyed the first story very much and plan to read the rest once I get a little more Absolute Rest. Backed for now.

Thanks again, man. THat story is even being taught in universites around the country. People seem to like it. Hope the others come up to its standards. This too is a book of stories called DEAD BY TUESDAY.

Dear LG,
I loved everything about your story BODIES IN MOTION except that I didn't write it.
'Groped the rope,' taking aging personally. a potential thief, dishwasher thoughts, who gets the cupcake, caca.
Yikes, I will read more.
I will read everything you write on the basis of this story but you must promise to write to this standard.

Hi louis, final got around to your book 'Dead by Tuesday' backed it earlier on the pitch read.
I find it to be excellent reading, I do like shorter stories and your book suits me down to the ground.
I did take to the everday humour embodied within your book, great stuff.
Your writing skills are pretty obvious and are to be commended.

kind regards,

Neville (The Secrets Of The Forest - Series )

Hi, I read Bodies in Motion and really enjoyed your writing.

I liked:-
'The Titanic has risen and we're all on board.'
'Prokofiev's music gone graphic'
'You can only think of injustice in the morning'
'You were trying to punch the second law of thermodynamics? Sure.'
'Let's just say I take it more personally'
'Fruit therapy'
'savoured their meringue'
'your very organs and glands weep'
'Guess who winds up with the cupcake?'
Success by default'

and many, many others -- brilliant.

'...and make grovel' -- typo
'...one condition only immortality...' typo

I hope this is helpful and encouraging. As I'm sure you realise by now, you're a top class writer.
Backed with pleasure,
Barry

Louis, read Bodies in Motion - so much to love - Pepe's view of life or view of some life that sits upon an unattainable mountaintop and the hilarious turn of events that is so right on. Faye is everyman's wife - the "bubble buster", but then so many of us dreamers wouldn't survive without them. Intelligent, snicker if not LOL a minute. Can't wait to read the next one. Backed. Great job on this one. Certainly agree with Greensboro Review. CW (To Save the Sun)

Dear Louis, I love that you mention Adam & Eve & I hate anything to do with spiders. :) Your pitch & prologue prepared me for your short stories & I wish you had more online so I could read them, too. :) Your dialogue & paragraphs are crisp, providing for an easy read. :) I've backed your book :) - could you take a moment to back mine? Thanks. :) Love, Susie :)

DEAD BY TUESDAY
Welcome to authonomy
An interesting collection of stories. The magazines are mostly unknown to me as I rarely read magazines of any kind. However, you have chosen a subject(s) that is comlex to most of us. Black they certainly are but of a wry, and sometimes satirical nature. Backed and should reach a substantial audience
