The Fruit of the Spirit

Thomas G. Dorrity,Jr.

This book is based on a sermon series preached in a small rural church over twenty-five years ago.

The book uses an exegetical and expository approach to the subject introduced by the Apostle Paul in Galatians 5:22-23. It is based on nine sermons. Each sermon is an examination of one of the components of the Fruit of the Spirit. Each component is defined, described, and illustrated in its own chapter.

Wish I was there when you presented your sermons. Your in depth exploration of these essential elements of the Spirit within is valuable and helpful. A fine addition to the library of Christian literature and hermaneutics.

I've often wondered if Jesus would have considered St Paul to be a Christian at all; that he might have considered Paul's views very different from his own, and that Paul took the early church in quite a different direction from that in which he would have taken it himself, had he survived another ten years.
I'm sure that the author of this book has views on all of these matters.

Most, assuredly I do! My views are based on a literal, historical, grammatical approach to the Bible itself. The answer to the suppositions you raise is found in Jesus' mission as revealed in the Bible. His own death on the cross at Calvary was a key component of that mission. Had he not accomplished that, there would be no Christianity.

Dear Thomas

i am impressed by your analysis as well as by the elegance of your prose. I will be putting you on my W/L to remind me to return and read more of your thesis as it is uploaded. My book approaches the life of Jesus and touches on Pauls part in the Christian story from the perspective of those living in 12th century Jerusalem. I think that any development of your work should include Pauls views on the Jewish faith and what he had to say about other belief systems and faiths.

regards

Brian

Thank you for your backing and your suggestions, Brian. I will give them careful thought.

Dear Thomas, I love your wonderful sermon & could hardly wait to see if it was the the Kings James Version which I memorized many long years ago (I'm 70) :) - so happy that it is: love, joy peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. :) Thank you for all of your scriptures to back it up. :) God bless you for blessing all of us with your message. :) Hope you will put many more books on authonomy. :) I've backed your book :) - could you please take a moment to back my memoirs book? :) Thanks so very much. :) Love, Susie :)
Well, Susie, I appreciate your positive comments regarding my book (I'm 65+). I will read your memoirs and let you know what I think.

"When you back a book, it only improves the ranking of that book, not yours. However, the author whose book you are backing may decide to back your book also, in which case yes, your ranking would be improved"
"Every time you place a book on your bookshelf, your recommendation pushes the book up the rankings. And while that book sits on your bookshelf, your reputation as a talent spotter increases depending on how well that book performs."

It is clearly evident that you know the holy scriptures extremely well and that you have a deep faith in and love of God. Your strong first person narrative voice coupled with your smooth writing style is perfect for this genre. Backed.

Thomas,
I relish your writing in The Fruit of the Spirit. Written in modern-day English with numerous references to the Bible, this is the sort of book I take pleasure in supporting as it is clearly a precious work. Backed.
