Once Upon A Stage

Holly Champion

A collection of short plays for children based on fairy stories from around the world.

A collection of short plays for children (and children at heart) based on fairy stories from around the world. This project was inspired by one of the elements in Girlguiding UK's Adventure 100 challenge, which required the girls to cast and perform a play. Although these plays were initially written with Brownies (age 7-10) in mind, the readership of these plays should no more be limited to that age group than should the readership of the original stories themselves. The subject matter and humour should appeal to young and old alike. Within this collection are versions of familiar and well-loved tales, like Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks, as well as less familiar stories, like The Three Feathers and Tattercoats, and local variations of well-known tales, like Tom-Tit-Tot, the English version of Rumplestiltskin.

Hi Holly,

A nice idea. I'm not sure about putting the plot at the begining, though. It rather defeats the object of the play.

Thank you very much for your comment. As for the proper format... I have no idea! I'm rather new to all this and need all the help I can get.

Most charming dramatization! Please tell me, is this how one nowdays formats plays?
Cheers and congratulations for your formidable achievement.

Thank you for your comment. It has taken me a while, but I am now updating the chapters to remove the tables. Hopefully this should solve the problem.

Many thanks

Holly

With your layout, my screen won't display the speech, and I can only see who's talking.
(Even when i reduce the text size)
I like your plots at least but that's all I can see...
:-(

You have an unusual style here, and from what I can see this is nicely done. However,I would echo the previous comment - you need to adjust this to make it readable. Colin

Hi Holly,
I love your short plays, but it was a pain having to slide the bar back and forth so that I could read it.

I was drawn to this book due to having a biding interest in the history of Fairy Tales and having studied the subject at some length while at UOM. (Oh, and because the King is called Bob!) The intent of this work is admirable and allows the participation of groups in its enjoyment. The content is pitched at the right level and the format is ideal for further dissemination. Something simple and enjoyable that has been around forever is dusted down, revamped, repackaged and re-presented in an ideal form. Ace, Holly! BACKED. Robert Davidson. The Tuzla Run

Dear Holly, I love that you have taken the time to present us these delightful plays. :) Amazing the talent of these young kids to write them & you are amazing the your formatted all of this so we could read them. :) Each play made me smile & I pictured their costumes & them performing them. :) Hope you'll write a million books. :) I've backed your book. :) Could you please take just a moment to back my memoirs book? :) Thanks so very much. :) Love, Susie :)

Holly,
Once Upon a Stage is a delightful collection of plays. I love how you've taken some familiar stories for children and transformed them into plays. This should enchant the little ones already familiar with the characters and situations they see on the stage. Backed with pleasure.

Thank you for your kind words and support.
