Faith - A Call to Love

Zonda Bryant

Christians are called to live a life of faith and that faith should show our love! For everyday people, the salt of the earth.

Mine is a simple message. A message of what I believe it means to be a Christian. As I look around at most of mainstream Christianity, I wonder if we have gotten off track somewhere and have forgotten the simple truths Jesus came to teach us – of how he wants us to relate to him, to God and to each other – with love. I fear we are in danger of becoming the Pharisees. Are we representing the true face of God to the world or have we gotten so wrapped up in “religion” that we have forgotten the basic message? I wanted to share what I have come to know, in hopes that it will at least get Christians to think. To inspire them to evaluate their own lives and consider if we are truly on track to bring the most wonderful news to a hungry people or if we need to change course. And if new Christians read this or those that are just curious to know more about us, I would hope my words are a compass to point them in the right direction as they begin their journey.

For those who were so supportive of this, my first book, it has been published and is available at amazon.com Last spring I sent it to Lighthouse publishing and they accepted it and were willing to publish it. I feel pretty blessed. Sorry I haven't been on line much for awhile. I've been involved in creating environmental education opportunities for children all summer/fall. I feel it's important for them to engage the wonder of God's creation. Good luck to you all!

Mar 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Mar 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
So true. Do not stop spreading this word.

Thank you James. I will make the correction and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Hello Zonda:

I really enjoyed reading Faith-A Call to Love. It is a simple message, but so vital and needing to be heard and communicated.

Keep an eye on the grammar/punctuation when you are attributing quotes in your writing. In the last paragraph of chapter 6, the following sentence:

Then Jesus answered "feed my sheep". should be written:

Then Jesus answered, "Feed my sheep."

Blessings to you as you proclaim the wonderful, refreshing news of the Kingdom of God.

I did a speed read of your books and found it to my liking and my agreement for the most part. You empahses on the simplicty of Christ and the dangers of complicating the message and driving people to Pharisaism or becoming Pharisees ourselves in powerful and blinks red. I feel that this is a book that needs to be read and I want to help so I am giving it six stars and putting it on my watch list. When i have an opening on my shelf I will back it.

Perhpas you wouldbe so kind and generous as to take a look at my two books with the thought in mind of possibly helping me.

Thanks much and God bless,

Hi. I only had time to brows through your work. I found the story interesting and plan to return for more reading and a detailed comment. As I’m very much pressed for time, tell me which chapter you want me to pay special attention to.
Meanwhile, could you please check TO KILL A DEAD MAN? I will appreciate it.

Wow what a wonderful book. It is about time that christians got back to the basics. It is true that many are more interested with religion, or in portraying their version as the right one than with telling people about christ.
Fantastic read.
Backed with pleasure

Zonda, your first chapter (Preface?) had me quite interested in your book. I was drawn in by the way you made claims, and did so unashamedly. You were to the point, thought provoking, and mind capturing to say the least. I truly was hooked by this introduction. From there on I began to see the stage you were setting for your readers. I kept thinking to myself, "Man, this sounds a lot like a testimony." When I got to Chapter 17 and read where you wrote, "What I hope that I have been able to share with you is my understanding of what it means to be a Christian . . . to share my testimony . . ." I realized that this indeed was more of a testimony.

If I understand the premise of the book well enough, it is simply to love God and love others. This I am in whole heartedly agreement with you. I do, however, differ in some theological points that you made, nothing worth getting into here in this comment area. Basically, it has to do with the use of exegesis and eisegesis of Scripture. Other than that, I do have a few critiques that may be helpful to you.

I think in chapter 6 was where you mentioned how the Americans drove out the Indians. The premise of this is true, but you might want to make a note that it wasn't the Indians that were drove out (those who live in India), but the Native Americans. I know they are often called Indians, but by actual meaning, they are not Indians. I think that Native American honors them more, because they were the natives, not us.

Also, I think an editorial review by someone who understands grammar would help also. Some things can be fixed that would help this read a lot better than it does now, even though it reads pretty well as it is. Things like citing sources, and where to put the parenthesis, and how to close quotes in a sentence. Also remember that when starting a new sentence, add only one space. I know it used to be two, but it has been one space for quite a long time now.

I hope that helps and I enjoyed reading your book! I will rate it now.

God bless!

Zonda,

I've read through the first few chapters of you book. It's a really good read. Very well written and very down to earth. You ground your very sound theology in life experiences which makes it very real to the reader. Well done. I hope you get published one day. There aren't enough books out there that are correct like this one.

I've given your book 6 stars and added it to my watchlist so that when I have space I can put it onto my bookshelf.

I have also gold ******-rated your book :) - could you please check to see if you ****** 'ed mine, too? :) Every ****** -ing & backing more than 24 hours moves our books up authonomy's lists. :) I want to ask you if you could please keep my book on your bookshelf because I'm #6 on the editor's desk & have to be in the top 5 to be chosen, the end of January :) - I had a mini-stroke Nov. 10 with slurred speech for an hour & numbness of tongue still & over 24 smaller ones where I couldn't speak since & I"d sure like to cross the finish line of the editor's desk after 326 days of trying on authonomy. :) Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me :) - I have lost 3 sisters to strokes & my last sister, Mary had 2 heart attacks this past year.

Thank you for the read

Zonda, What a beautiful inspiring work, spoken in truth and shared with understanding and humility. I love the sumation at the end....We are kindred spirits because we are spirit filled and guided and we have faith and hope and love for all people. I know you have a flock to reach and have no doubt you will. Your book has made my heart smile and confirmed the faith I hold in my fellow human beings....God Bless you and your family and may you bask in Gods Grace and mercy always Patricia aka Columbia Layers of the Heart

Zonda, I LOVE chapter seven....You get it and explain it so plainly that the blind will see it...Bravo my Dear Sister..God Bless Patricia

greeneyes1660 wrote 528 days ago

Zonda, I am up to chapter six and had to stopand tell you what a beautiful gift this is. It would make the perfect daily book to read. You gently remind us of the love God surrounds us with and His only want for us is to love each other the same way. If we break it down to something as simple as children in an orphanage, the younger ones are always shown that they are worthy of love, yet once they get older, they repeatedly are shown that they are to old to be loved. It's no wonder many of them struggle awhile on their path, imagine feeling you're to old to be loved. God has never rejected any of us and we need not to reject or judge each other. I agree we are kindred spirits, and I hope some day we get to speak, i to feel as if I could be sharing coffee and fellowshiping with you. Thank you so much for sharing your gift and purpose and I have no doubt there is a need and purpose for this wonderful work....Backed without a doubt Patricia aka Columbia Layers of the Heart and I will read it completely

Dear Zonda I think you communicate the very important message of love very well. You speak to the heart and get to the core. Maybe though you could give a bit more credence to the obedience part of love e.g. John 14 "If you love me, keep my commandments and 1 John 5 "And this is the love of God that we keep His commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome". Yes, as you write though, we do have to be careful of our 'man-made rules'. regards David

Zonda,
What a wonderful book you have written. This can really be a daily devotional. The chapters are short and broken up well enought that that would work well. I agree it is certainly to forgive ourselves. We say things to and about ourselves that we would never say to a friend who was struggling with those same issues.
Nicely done!

Dear Zonda, I love that you let the scriptures speak :) - the Word of God is quick & powerful. :) Wonderful that you delved in "faith" :) - "for without faith, it is impossible to please God" "He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek HIm." I just love when God speaks. :) Hope our Lord will have your write many more books, pointing to Him Who is the Way, the Truth, & the Life. :) I have read, commented on, & put your book on my watchlist to back when space opens on my bookshelf. :) I have also ****** 'd your book :) - could you please ****** & back my memoirs/testimony book? :) Thank you from the bottom of my heart. :) Love, Susie :) p.s. every ****** 'ing & backing we do moves our books closer to the editor's desk :)
