The Book of Sarah

L. Luciel Miller

When cloning goes wrong, the result is a new race of beings struggling to find their place in a strange world.

Human evolution is a tricky thing. Replicating it synthetically is even trickier.

Just ask Sarah. Sarah is a Shade, genetically engineered by the Ruling Government to be the perfect citizen and soldier. Raised in RG Headquarters and assgned to a Special Forces unit in the Empire's militia, Sarah hasn't had the easiest life. Her complicated family situation and difficult love life don't help.

In the midst of world war and personal turmoil, Sarah must find a way to save an entire race, resolve her family issues, and reconcile her love life without getting herself caught in the crossfire.

I was a little confused in the middle of the prologue since I got the impression that Eve could teleport but later on there is no mention. The prologue is almost a story in itself. You say she was no human and looked different but I was not able to visualize her since there is no real description of Eve or the Shades. You mention two moons (I have two in my book too) so it sounds like this is not Earth but I was not sure since some of the words seem to indicate it was. In chapter one you mention age which again is tied up with the earth and its rotation around the sun. The Strawberry blonde hair is also the hair color of the main character my book. You mention the key and again the idea that she can teleport comes to mind but them you talk about being locked forever in a dungeon. I found this confusing
I like this book and it has a good plot with great imagination. I will put it on my shelf for a few days since it is well written and it kept my attention and I wanted to read on.

Dear L. Luciel, I love your story of cloning :) - wouldn't that be something if that could really happen? :) My favorite TV Series was Terminator & your story reminds me of that. :) I liked the the ending, "Take me to her" - great intrigue. :) I have read, commented on, & have to wait to back, for an opening on my watchlist. :) Thank you for your backing message :) - but I don't see my book on your shelf? :) I just looked to be sure I had ******-rated your book & I had :) - could you please ****** mine, too. :) I want to ask you if you could please put my book on your bookshelf as long as possible because I'm 12 from the editor's desk & need to be in the top 5 by the end of November :) - I had a mini-stroke last Wednesday with slurred speech for an hour & numbness of tongue still & 4 smaller ones since & I"d sure like to cross the finish line of the editor's desk after 9 months trying on authonomy. :) Thank you from the bottom of my heart :) - every ******-ing & backing moves our books closer to the editor's desk. :)
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me. :) I have lost 3 sisters to strokes & my last sister, Mary had 2 heart attacks earlier this year, so I'm trying to keep on & to cross the finish line of the editor's desk. :) Love, Susie :)

Wonderful sci-fi. You've painted a unique world, and done so in grand fashion. Excellent dialogue throughout, and a fabulous storyline.

Two quibbles. There's an enormous amount of information in the prologue and first chapter. It's a bit hard for me to wrap my head around all of it.

Then there's the other side of the coin. I found information lacking when you describe the ship. It was big, yes, but I would have like to know more about what it looked like.

I think you have a long writing carreer ahead of you! Many stars!

This is a well written and accomplished piece of sci-fi writing. The premise is intriguing, the introductory interview between Saran and Kale Druitt, well managed - we are left wondering who really has the power - and Sarah is a worthy heroine. I look forward to seeing you around the site. Watchlisted for now, awaiting a backing slot (the watchlist oozes from the edges) Jaye Hill (the Fantasy Trip and Runa Seven)
