A Forgetful Flying Carpet, Genies on Strike, The Teaspoon-Chaser's TeaCosy and other ridiculosities . . . whimsies and frivolities here . . .
"The time has come," the Monkey said,
"To talk of many things:
Of scribes--and books--and butterflies--
Of genies and —lost puddings--
And why peacocks screech so very loud--
And whether pigs have wings."
"But wait a bit," the Authors cried,
"Before we have our chat;
For some of us are out of breath,
And all of us are fat!"
"No hurry!" said the Editor.
They thanked him much for that.
"A head of fluff," the Monkey said,
"Is what we chiefly need:
Fantasy and whimsy besides
Are very good indeed--
Now if you're ready, Authors dear,
We can begin to read."
