SADIST An Act of Grace

Anthony Pershing

Please view the short video at YouTube 'Sadist An Act of Grace by Anthony Pershing' for previous thoughts on this novel.

A POV through the eyes of both predatory sexual psychopath, [Carrick] and the born again Christian policeman [George] committed to catch him and forgive - despite the promise of raping and killing his daughter by his quarry. PLEASE NOTE this is NOT Ian Rankin, PD James or similar. This book deals with Evil, organised paedophilia and has an '18' rating for good reason.

Interesting book cover and blurb, Anthony.
Great opening also. I didn't understand the word 'arrogate'.
I like the title of the first chapter! I don't get why you have bits in square brackets.
Excellent changes in points of view of the characters. Interesting reading, thought provoking.
Thank you for sharing!

Dear Gooner,

Here we are again. The same holds true as before: this book is disgusting, it's unnecessary, it's degrading, the violence, especially against women and children, is there purely for the sake of controversy... At least those are all things one would believe if one didn't bother to actually read the book.
From the first chapter the real intent of the story is clear: "Titillation via violence is a sure sign of violent potential." Perhaps that line is there to deflect the inevitable criticism of the content. Whatever - it is still true. This is not a book which should be read for titillation; there is not one thing I find arousing or titillating about it - not in a carnal sense at least. As I read it, and as I am constantly horrified by Carrick's actions, my overwhelming desire is for the good guys to win and for them to keep on winning. I would also like the world to learn from Carrick's account of events. But then, of course, you, as the author, must be a misogynistic paedophile, yes? Right, so Dostoevsky killed old ladies and Thomas Harris has bodies in his basement.

You waste your time here. This book is too well-written and contains too much philosophy to be lost amidst a slush pile.
In terms of criticism, I must first reprimand myself: when you were here before I suggested the book was too long and could be cut. I know better now. The book should be as long as the book is, only a professional editor who shares your ambition and goals can tell you where cuts, if any, may be made. In terms of you reaching the right agent or editor, I would say you need to be very careful about making accusations that the government are involved in the sexual abuse of children. To put it simply, I believe governments are, to varying degrees, incompetent, feckless, lazy and out of touch. I do not believe for one moment they have anything to do with organised child abuse - the note on your profile suggests you believe they are.

Your book will stay on my shelf until you choose to remove it. It's very brave of you to let loose on the page in the manner in which you have. But then I ask you, what use is a writer who is a coward?

I appreciate you will have had a horrible time in Barcelona last night. I hope this review helps ease the pain a little.
