The Evil People

K a r l

Horror tales for grownup people – don’t read them if you want a good night’s sleep.

The Evil People are all around us. Are you evil, maybe?

Living in the world of today, we have a tendency to gorge in evil: When you watch a horror movie. When you read the Brothers Grimm out loud for your kids. When you read the newspaper out loud to your spouse.

But these stories are stories of the real Evil People. Real evil does not scare you. Real evil only hurts.

(These two chapters are the first of 12 – loosely connected and not attached until the last story. They make a finished story each by themselves. They will not scare you. Only hurt.)

Hey Karl,

I've just got around to reading some of your book and am giving it a place on my shelf for a while. Take a look at mine asap.

Hey Karl! Get your head out of the clouds and finish that third story!

I will read asap and thanks for your comments, it was really good of you to be so helpful. Hopefully in the next two days as you are already on my watchlist.

Read both stories.

I won't offer any constructive criticism unless it's wanted.

Enjoyed the stories and think Karl has a nice way of twisting things.

Second story reminded me of something I read a few years back called Kelly and Victor. Can't remember who the author was - it was a friend's book - but it had that same this is life sort of feel..

Good raw material. I enjoyed this and will pop it in my shelf!

And hurt me they did. I did not see the twists coming.

Looking forward to reading the rest of it!

Hi there,

First of all, let me say I enjoyed reading this. Nice style, convincing characters over-all, and I'm intrigued the topic you're exploring - I was browsing for horror, but your synopsis about Evil People only hurting got me very interested.

The first story, in retrospect, seems a bit predictable, but I did not catch on until just before the last time she met him.

The second story kept me wondering what was going on until the last part, so that's great. Only one tiny thing that bothers me about this one is how "she" breaks the fourth wall at some point - when she says she won't describe masturbating in front of the mirror, but that the reader can always e-mail "Nic". I also found "his" smiley ( ;o) ) a little bit odd and out of place. The story was coming along nicely, I was involved, and then those two things came along to remind me - it's a story and I'm reading it, I'm not living it.

Very occasionally I stumbled accross a typo or misplaced word here and there, as well, but that's easily fixed and didn't stop me from enjoying.

All in all, a good read, and if there's more to come, I'd love to hear about it.
