The Hallows

Jeanie Hickman

Hannah Carson grew up believing that Davie was her imaginary friend. As it turns out... he's something else entirely.

Sometimes seventeen-year-old Hannah Carson thinks she’s crazy. She has no friends, her family says she is peculiar, and, oh yeah—she has an imaginary friend. She can tolerate the snarky comments and the solitude, but she’d never be able to live without Davie. He's everything she could ever want in a best friend: funny, brave, a little bit of a rebel. He’s even saved her life before… twice. But when Tanner Adams, saunters into her life, her already tilted world is knocked upside down. He accepts Hannah’s farfetched secret as soon as she works up the courage to tell him, but she is shocked when he insists that Davie is a danger to her. Hannah ignores his claims until she witnesses the bizarre circumstances surrounding her aunt’s death. That’s when she begins to question things about Davie that don’t quite add up. What's he working so hard to keep from her? Why has he never mentioned his horrifying abilities before? And where does he really go all the time? The answers to all of these questions points to the same conclusion: Davie's not what he’s been claiming to be. But if he’s not really an imaginary friend, then what is he?

Thoroughly enjoying this and very intrigued to find out more. It's well-written and has that page-turning quality that will keep readers hooked. There are a few typos here and there and some inconsistencies with tense in places, but nothing that can't be easily put right.

Backed with pleasure and do please let me know if you post more chapters.

Good luck

I generally don't read past the first couple of chapters. I've read it all though and want more. Backed and rated.

Hi,
I read all three chapters of this gripping tale.
The premise for this is great, I love the idea of an imaginary friend that could possibly have dire consequences.
Your writing flows beautifully, I didn't find any sentence jarred my reading, and the dialogue was authentic to the characters ages.
I really like Hannah, she has an innocence about her that is appealing. Tanner works as the guy who might get her out of a sticky situation, and you've built up an air of mystery around him regarding his sister.
Usually the imaginary friend scenario is a good plot for younger children, but I like the tone of this as it works for the YA audience as well.
I enjoyed this, and I think you could have a sure fire winner here.
Watchlisted and star rated highly for now, I will find some time on my bookshelf in the coming months, as I think this is well written and deserves to be considered for publication.
Well done,
Cheers Jacoba
