The crime writing manual

David B

A series of writing exercises which when complete can be locked together to form a book.

Writing exercises in character, dialogue, setting and story development. These have evolved as a self help manual for my own writing. Comments on whether people find them useful appreciated.

I have read the introduction and first set of tasks - as mentioned by Darren and Ariom, I too agree that this needs to broken down - perhaps intro as chapter one and then a task set per chapter. Having said that I think the premise is exciting and original. I can imagine budding writers (such as myself.) would find motivation and inspiration from your advice and tasks.

Great, inspiring work - it's going to my shelf!

Interesting idea. Some good points for character and story development for writers. I agree with the comment from Ariom. It would definitely be more readable if it was broken down into sections.

Hello David,

This seems a useful collection of tasks, but might I suggest it would be better broken up into sections? I’d like to try this approach one day, when I have the time. I do hope your novel does well.
Thanks and regards,
