Island Of Dreams

Eddie McCann

A story of love, treachery and revenge: A vivid portrayal of one man's struggle for survival on a remote South Pacific Island.

Elizabeth Argyll isolated herself on a remote South Pacific Island after a broken love affair, and finds that not a day passes without she thinks of the man who drove her there. She is old and going blind. She has a visitor. He introduces himself as a reporter working for a magazine interested in getting her story, when all the time she knows he is the man in question. She scribbles something in a diary and presses it into his hand when the time comes for him to leave... Back in his quarters he gets a headache. The light dims. Elizabeth makes contact of some kind. Then the headache goes away and the light brightens up again. Elizabeth is dying. In the final moments he lives in her mind. They are running over the heather, her teasing, him trying to catch up. Then she slips from his grasp and closes her eyes for the last time.

I have starred your book and placed "Island of dreams" on my watchlist awaiting promotion. I have backed one of your books in the recent past. You are a talented and prolific writer, I envy your skill. I have only read the first chapter so far and find the story very engagaging and easy to read. Your MC (Eliizabeth) is wonderful and I really like the fact that her story is narrated by the journalist in the first person. Good luck with this work.

Quite an interesting plot you are weaving together in this story. I was initially attracted but the cover but I stayed for the writing. I can’t quite figure Elizabeth out. She seems very complex and certainly stubborn. Perhaps because of her past she can’t help it. She’s an impressively real character and for me she is the hook. I would continue reading to see how things work out for her. The pace is perhaps a little sluggish but I admit it works well for the setting of the story. Time allowing I would certainly read more.

Such an amazing storyline. You have captured Elizabeth's character perfectly. I can sense her stubborness and reluctance to move, and all the memories she holds close to her heart.
She is a mature woman struggling through past regrets, its a wonderful story, and the pitch has me intrigued. I can't wait to read more.
Well written
6 stars . Youre backed.

Hi Ed: I read the first couple of chapters. I can really feel Elizabeth as a lonely spinster. Her one true love with a married man continues to haunt her. Well done! I am no expert and these are simply my own thoughts on the first chapter.
Chapter 1
the radio: I know she lives in the remote part of the jungle yet she picks up radio stations? Are you sure the signals would reach her. With her humble settings does she even have electricity?
From the pitch I know a reporter comes to visit her. You start in with the conversationnot knowing when or how he got there. Perhaps include a paragraph on how he hears about this recluse and he's anxious to hear her story. You could really play it up with some vivid descriptions of what he encounters ie wild animals etc or trecherous waters.
Overall i think this book has great potential and will try to get back to read more.

Eddie,
Island of Dreams has a very appealing setting. I was drawn to the book by the cover picture and the title. I reviewed the first chapter and felt compassion for Elizabeth. While her home on the island is a place I would love to visit and stay awhile, her history is quite a melancholy tale and she is someone I would want to know. I was pleased to find a place for Island of Dreams on my bookshelf and gave it the highest star rating.
