An epic futuristic story of suffering, death, and humanity; of how we deal when the universe threatens our very survival!

In the distant future, humanity has expanded to fill every corner of the Solar System. Over 100 billion people live on its many planets, orbital rings and asteroids. In this age of many, it is fast becoming clear that the resources are going to run out! But before that happens, desperate measures need to be taken. Humanity must find new places to go to and new ways to manage what little it has left. But the universe is full of surprises. Between upheaval at home and the possibility of hostile intelligences aboard, humanity will have its hands full! But then again, no one said survival was easy.

Just made the corrections you mentioned, now the first chapter has no preamble. Other than that, ready to read and be digested! Thanks for the tips, hope to see you around.

Hi, welcome to the zoo.
I've backed your book because I like the concept and your writing style and I look forward to reading further. I've done what most people will do: read the very first part of chapter 1.
So, if you want more folk to read it you have to get rid of everything before The Source, which is where the story starts. Nobody gives a fig about all the other stuff, its annoying and in the way. If you absolutely insist, then put it in a separate piece at the end.
Also, get rid of all the white space, the web-site puts in white space after every paragraph, so if you have white space too, then there's too much.
Anyone who isn't a SciFi freak like me, will decide whether to click on 'read book' on reading the pitch. It's good, but not quite exciting enough, and it's allowed paragraphs. People read the start of a paragraph then jump to the next one, so the more and shorter you have, the more they will read.
By the way, although there is 'reply' facility on your comments, anything you put there does not go to the person commenting, it stays only on your page. If you want them to read it you have to send them a message on their page. Just one of the many quirks of the site.
So, good luck with it, and may your critics be positive and helpful. The very best part of this is other writers finding the faults and you going, Yes! Why didn't I think of that?
