Forging the Blade; When the Student is Ready, the Teacher Arrives

A.J. Campbell

The year is A.D. 348. A Gothic purge sends Christians into Transylvania. Their champion is a woman, and her sword will reach ultimate fame.

In the fourth century, the Goths are living between the Black Sea, Transylvania, and the Roman-controlled Danube. In their midst are three individuals who will forever live in European literature, yet known only by their epithets:

Thulia the Bad Girl-- yet the Proclaimer knows who she will become.

Fritigern the Fisher-- destined to save his people from the Shadow of Death.

Merjands the Mystic-- walking from Asia to Gothia to complete a transmigration.

A woman of courageous spirit, a man who rides above war, and a teacher cursed to be forever old. From the author of The Demon's Door Bolt, a unique and new take on the origin of the Arthurian legend. A historical fancy based upon actual events: the first persecution of Gothic Christians beyond Rome's borders.

Forging the Blade is a finished novel at 144,000K

Hi, I have just backed your book as I love strong heroine. Perhaps, you will return the favour and back mine, Penrose, Princess of Penrith. If you do, many thanks. John

I like the story you've begun. Clearly, you have a feeling for the world you have envisioned. The first chapter was a little difficult because of the language, but as I got the hang of it, it became easier. The second chapter was more enjoyable.

I'll warn you that you're going to get comments about modernizing the language. It''s definitely a workout to get into the story at the beginning, but it's also well worth it. I'll come back to read more. I found no significant errors in the first two chapters. You obviously have polished this several times.

Good luck!
