Diary of the Displaced

Glynn James

James Halldon woke up in the dark, alone, without any food or water, and without a clue where he was.
And it only got stranger.

There is a place where nightmares come true.

It is a dark and terrifying place that is hidden from the world we know, by borders that only the most unfortunate of souls will ever cross.

James Halldon woke up in the dark, alone, without any food or water, and without a clue where he was.

And it only got stranger.

"Of all the places I had to end up, it had to be here."

If it's dark when you wake up, and you can hear growling, then close your eyes and maybe it will go away.

But maybe it won't.

A Horror Fantasy novel and book one of the Diary of the Displaced series.

Excellent! The first person voice is perfect for this piece. It grabs you and drags you along even when you don't want to go. And believe me, there are places in here that you won't want to go. That's the point, really.
The writing is tight and doesn't ramble but there are still some nits. Final piece he says; I've ran out of paper (or something similar) , it should be, run out of. That sort of thing, but they are easy to fix.
Good luck with this. I intend to re-read more closely.

A quite realistic look into a very unrealistic world. In the time I've had so far to invest in your book I've found myself transported into your world and have enjoyed it. I'm not qualified to critique, I'm just your average guy... but I think most people who like this genre will enjoy it greatly.

Glynn,
Interesting Zombie story. As we follow this faceless man with no name, in the dark, it's trully terrifying. At first i wondered why he didn't try to find an end to the darkness, and then found myself cheering on when he decided to do so. Even the Dog Thing is pitiful, how he befriended the man thing after they fought the zombies side by side. I'd like to read more of this when i have the chance. It is the end of the world? Are they in a paralel universe where darkness and zombies reign? Did Earth fall into a back hole?
I bet your're laughing at all this speculation aren't you? Guess i'll have to read on.:)

Unique is the word that springs to mind. You can tell through chapter 1 that he is trying to make sense of what is going on and trying to keep himself sane by using the diary. I will mention that in the 1 day ago entry you have a line where he says that he couldnt sleep, even resting didn't make the tiredness go away. Then the next line starts with "woke up". Bit confusing here, you might need to play around with the words a bit.
Other than that it is a very good start. I am going to back this on the principle that I feel there is great potential here.

Good Luck
