MIA

Lizzie Scott

Who in their right mind would go from fostering 'normal' children...to a baby with profound disabilities...

Ok... I’m a foster carer who doesn’t want this placement. The department of Social Services know just how to apply pressure... Oh yes...they get one very good, very friendly, very experienced social worker that I happen to have so much respect for, to make the call, knowing, just knowing that I will possibly surrender and agree to share our home with a child that, to be honest, was the last child in the world that I felt capable of caring for... Felt capable of feeling for... Felt capable of...having anything to do with her. Mmmm, sometimes I’m so bloody shallow you see. I don’t want people to look at me as I go about my business. I don’t want strangers giving me pitying looks or hurrying past pretending they haven’t looked in my pram. I don’t want to give up any of the precious time I spend with my birth children and husband. I want my life to stay just as it is. Happy and contented. Oh the lessons I was about to learn about happiness and contentment...

Sorry if anyone is mid book with Mia but have had to remove a few (quite a few) chapters due to editing. I will put them back as soon as possible.

What a sad story. I doub't you've read it, but I have a book entitled A Boy Called George, he was born disabled (my Grandson) and there was a baby in the opposite cot with SBS. I often wonder what happened to that poor child, maybe it ended up in the care of someone like yourself. I sincerely hope it did.
We were told to take George home and enjoy him! Thankfully, he is almost 16 now, and over 6ft 5. He did well. Unlike poor little Mia. Bless her little heart xxx

Thank you so much for the feedback you have given my latest book...probably the hardest book I will ever write.

MIA.
By Lizzie Scott.

This is a story of love and devotion by foster parents who really do care.
I read your first book with great interest some time ago and was left with a feeling of guilt.
The guilt part was to realise how difficult a foster parent’s job was on an everyday occurrence.
This is something that doesn’t come to mind for a normal family...it just isn’t thought of by the majority of people.
The story of Mia and your efforts to improve her tiny life is very moving.
I felt the reward in your eyes as she opened her little hands to signify her relaxed state, the nurses also witnessing the act.
Everyone was happy...I was I can tell you.
The constant feeding problems with the tube would be enough to put many people off but you persisted and got the better of it.
I have only praise for your fostering care, Mia was fortunate to be placed with you.
She could have been placed with someone far less caring...I dread to think of the consequences.
As usual, this story is written very well with vivid detail that pulls at the heartstrings.
Truly sad events that turn out for the better...I’m well pleased!
Deserving of a very high star rating and on my list for backing in a few days time.

Kindest regards,

Neville. The Secrets of the Forest – The Time Zone.

Hmmmm...think this needs a major edit as too many chapters. I would appreciate feedback on the best way to link from what I have as chapters ie...do I just put a space and a few stars (as I have in some places) or just make the start of the next chapter the next paragraph. Thanks for any suggestions.
Lizzie :-)
