THERE WILL BE MUD

John Rivers

The collected festival reviews from a man who doesn't seem to realise his days are numbered.

I first attended Glastonbury in 2003 and took it upon myself to write a small review. Since then I've been reviewing festivals on and off for the past five years. The bands, the drinking, the weather, the drinking, the dancing and the drinking. This year I've been asked to attend the Glastonbury festival by my company. I'm 29 years old. I have one year left before becoming an adult, but have I finally sold out too soon? The clock is ticking...

ARISE, AUTHONOMY GHOST!

Ease those weary, withered limbs from your coffin. Push away the stone from the mouth of the tomb.

You have one last task to perform. One last, sacred shelf to confer.

Whether you were plugger, spammer, gusher or troll, whether you flirted or fought in the forum or beavered away in the shadows, now is the time for your resurrection.

One last time. Marshall your strength, muster the last vestiges of your power and carry out your final Authonomy act:

Back my book, MIRROR IN THE SKY.

Then, only then, you may rest easy in your Authonomy grave.

I need to update this, haven't been on Authonomy for AGES, but thanks all for the encouragement.

Hey John, I gotta say you've got a great idea for a book here. Fantastic title and a rich source of inspiration. But I wonder if it would work as an actual narrative, rather than a series of vignettes around each band. You have the opportunity here to write a non-fiction memoir on a topic that has a large established audience and huge potential for publication in the mass market. You can push this, you writing says you can. But are you willing to? That is the question.

Oh what fun. When I have longer I'll come back to this & relive the memories - except I still have the remains of last year's mud on my tent, so maybe I don't need that much of a reminder. I think I prefer the '03 section the best - it was dry & it was warm & I had suuuuch a good time ...

What a splendid idea: the collected works of John Rivers. I shall have to click the watchlist tab so I can keep coming back.
