China-Me and the Dragon

Phillip Donnelly

A humorous description of a month-long journey through China.

Join the author on his month-long journey from Macao to Beijing: from the hi-tech metropolis of Hong Kong to old Llasa, from the pollution of Chengdu to the pristine beauty of Yangshuo, from the tomb of the First Emperor to the new model city of Zhuhai. Join him on a journey through time, from China’s past to its present and even its future. Join him on a journey through his own mind and its struggle to come to terms with the Land of the Dragon. Having previously lived and worked in China, the author returns two years later to travel around it. His Brysonesque musings and mental meanderings bring the reader with him as he travels through 'the middle kingdom'. This book can also be bought in dead tree format and there are several videos on you tube and photos as well. See my website for more information: www.phillipdonnelly.net

Mate, this is [Warning deleted!]. The noisy people are having a far better time that you are. Ach, I am stunned...you travel yet your mind is full of the same flotsam. Can this be so?

This sounds like China light. How can you get to grips with China in a month?

Very intruging story. Backed. You have a gift for being descriptive and your writing flows effortlessly.

I invite you to read Dreams Come True: A Story About Taylor Swift

God Bless,
Chipper

I finished Chapter 1 about agoraphobic bunnies and was overcome with the desire to go outside for a bike ride! :-) I
'm very happy you decided not to expunge introspective thought and restrict yourself to simply describing things - I'd read a guidebook for that! Now I'm back with bicycle grease on my hands, but eager to read more. I'm thoroughly enjoying this - best of luck!

Dear Phillip, I have really enjoyed reading China: Me & The Dragon - I liked the asides and digressions of your prologue, as you say it sets the style for what to expect later, and it is nice to be (armchair) travelling alongside a thoughtful and reflective narrator. You convey a good deal of information about your travels in China in an interesting, humorous and informative style and end with a resounding conclusion. Good stuff! With many thanks, Andrew.
