The Promise

Isabelle Laur

Have you ever met someone who looked familiar to you, even though you have never seen them before?

Are you sure you don't know them?

The Promise recounts two stories that appear to have nothing in common. The first is set in the eighteenth century, and the second toward the end of the twentieth century.

In one of the tales, a couple madly in love is about to get married when tragedy ensues, thus abruptly and brutally putting an end to their love story before the main characters were able to experience it fully. They make a promise to find each other again and to begin their romance where they left off.

In the other tale, two young teenagers fall in love at first sight. They have never seen each other before, and yet they seem to know all there is to know about each other. Their impossible love story will send them down different paths.

As different as these two stories may be, something ties them together: a promise…

This novel was written for those who are hunting for an explanation for the puzzling and disturbing sensation of recognizing a stranger on the street or at the market. It was also written for those who would like to understand why their relationships with others are so often complicated or appear even hopeless.

Oh my! What a fun read. Your chapters flow easily and carry your readers along. Your story shows a knowledge of human emotions and of historical architecture, culture and mores. Marvelous. The characters are believeable and I immediately cared for the four lovers.
Please proofread it another time or two. I found several confusing sentences which will be cleared up with better proofing. Add more exposition to explain their relationship is more of a spiritual nature. (I thought they were very young to be in a sexual relationship) So you should clear up that aspect of their friendship.
Where did Steve go for the two years they were apart? Did they write to each other? Why did he return?
I am enjoying this book and hope you will post more chapters soon.
Thanks very much, Katrinka

Isabelle,

The pitch dragged me in.

The description of the clothes lying around the room is wonderful. Very visual. The confused feelings of Clea, are profound. The emotions are well depicted and entirely credible. Excellent.

On my Watch List.

Joanna
