Midgets into Little People

David Quin

Midgets, flamenco dancers and a mysterious Count on a Mediterranean island during G W Bush's War on Terror.

The mysterious Mr. Fitz goes to die on a Mediterranean island, but his terminal intentions are interrupted by little people dressed up as Napoleon, flamenco dancers, a threadbare Count, a young nymphomaniac, stolen paintings, a trip back to World War Two and the peculiarities of President G. W. Bush’s War On Terror.
Mr. Fitz lives a life of indolence, engages in a psychotic theft and is thrown in a dungeon accused of rape and murder. In the end, only the eccentricities of island life save our hero from an ignominious fate and Mr. Fitz is mysteriously elevated to a position of some honour.

Wow, this is some weird stuff. Maybe one of the strangest opening I've ever read, period. But it's also good. Quite good, actually.

"There is another George Clooney?" This is t'riffic stuff and madder than a David Lynch movie. Better too. WHile I loved Lynch's stuff as an adolescent, odd for oddd's sake gets old but this is odd because it has to be and yet it still makes sense. Bloody marvellous stuff!

I feel stoned just reading it, could this be a modern answer to The Prisoner? I would ditch the Courier New and put the lot in TNR. But this is a wonderful antidote to the large number of comfortable, smooth but otherwise unremarkable reads on this site. It has passion and style and I like it a lot. True it’s as mad as a boxer dog in lace panties but I like it dammit!

Hi David,

I immediately thought of the lyrics of the Modest Mouse song 'Dashboard' where he sings 'Tiny giants make tinier giants.' ......just wanted you to know that!

As for your synopsis...who wouldn't want to read your book after that...

..and then there is your opening line....one of the best i have seen on Authonomy.....maybe not PC but not all books are!!...you continue with refering to women as bitches.....this is fine if you are going down the Alf Garnett road of portraying your main character as a complete moron with no grace etc and who eventually gets his comeuppance.

Loved the part about the house being owned by George Clooney......

I'll give this a turn on my shelf as i am intrigued as to how it gets on here.

Much appreciated

Hi David, Fabulous and funny. The prologue was a little scary. It doesn’t seem like Mr. Fitz who is pretty agreeable. The steady imaginative direction is maintained so that when he got to the Count’s, that world seemed strong. The sudden juxtaposition with the contemporary world and the prisoners made this leap. I enjoyed the far-fetched excursion. Shelved – Katherine (The Swan Bonnet)

Weird, sensational and absolutely fantastic. I wanted to do the helpful critique thing, but was too busy reading and clicking like a crazy person for more. This is - I'm not actually sure what it is. There aren't really words to describe it - and surely that's what the book industry is looking for right now? This is smooth, flowing, gritty and gripping, with that kind of humour that leaves you helpless.

Backed with pleasure.

MIDGETS INTO LITTLE PEOPLE
This book is a while ride. The beginning is startling. Really grabs a reader’s attention: a quick alert this is not going to be your average read. And then things get even stranger . . . Bottom line: not the book for everyone probably, but your writing style is great. I enjoyed this. I’m adding it to my shelf. Burgio (Grain of Salt).

Dear David, I love your fantasy - almost like Fantasy Island - & there was a little person on it - really moving intriguing story, you've written. :) Your pitch is excellent, so set the hook for me to read your book. :) When you use short paragraphs & lots of dialogue, it makes me want to keep reading to find out what's going to happen next. I'm backing your book. :)
Could you please take a moment to back my TWO memoir books? Thanks, Susie :)

This is information from authonomy (so beware of any other untrue information you may receive that is spam & not quotes of authonomy):
"When you back a book, it only improves the ranking of that book, not yours. However, the author whose book you are backing may decide to back your book also, in which case yes, your ranking would be improved"...authonomy quote.
"Every time you place a book on your bookshelf, your recommendation pushes the book up the rankings. And while that book sits on your bookshelf, your reputation as a talent spotter increases depending on how well that book performs.

Ed,

Thanks for your kind comments on 'Midgets Into Little People'. This definitely isn't a pc read, though I like to believe that the characters have redeeming features and the story ends happily ever after. I'm persisting with 'Donkeys' - up past Chapter 10.

Hi people,

sorry, I'm attempting to update Midgets Into Little People at the moment, with shorter chapters, far more bitesized. Thanks for your comments. I will respond and try to reciprocate in due course.

I love the language you use in this story -- you pant a very vivid and believable character, amongst a pretty much insane situation. I like it a lot. I've only read the first chapter so far, but I'll return to take in some more.
