Members of this group are genuinely seeking to improve their books.
Members aim to give and receive honest and detailed critique(to other members!), avoiding the vacuous platitudes and tit for tat reviewing. Cruelty and abuse are never our intent.

GUIDELINES:

* To be added to the group list declare your interest and post a link to your novel ...in the thread!

* It is up to you where you start. MEMBER'S BOOKS ARE LISTED BELOW - please choose from one and get started!

* Always add "A BHCG review'" to the BEGINNING of your crits to other members

* Always leave a message in the thread when you have completed a review.

* Feel free to return helpful crits immediately.

* Members who are inactive for 14 days (with no explanation) will be declared 'Dormant' (please inform us if going on holiday/vacation)

* Members who post no reviews for other members for over 28 days will be removed.

* NO reviewing to be done on thread.

Recommended review format:

Plot – opening, narrative flow/momentum
Pacing – too much backstory or too little
Characters/Characterization
Point of View/Voice
Style – very subjective but good to know if it works or not for the reader
Sentence level – grammar, repetitive structure, wordiness, unneeded phrases etc
Dialogue
Originality
Publishability

And, just in time for the launch, I'm going away for a week! I may get to do a crit or two, though...possibly...or not...

Well, a few hours into this group and I've had two very good reviews, proper feedback. I'm really appreciative and feel this is what's the biggest benefit from joining authonomy - some honest feedback. It's useful. Need I say more?

Thank you. Smile

Tiny question

Is it the done thing to 'reply/question/query' the reviewer? I don't mean in a bad/defensive way, 'how dare you say that' etc, but is it okay to ask for a bit more info on what they mean, or query what they mean by X?

Or is the done thing to leave it be?
