As the Soldiers we are, marching
With our heads held high
Knowing how lucky we were,
Today nobody died,
Soldiers step into the battlefield,
Hell reigns in the morning
Peace flourishes in the evening,
Its only time before the enemy yield,
With the enemy withdrew
There is not much to do,
Except for sleep soundly at night,
Tomorrow may be your last fight.

These links will provide you with some footage of what all soldiers have been doing in afghanistan. Also maps to show you what our forces have achieved over the past 10 years. According to the stats there are now 40% of women voting. Well done troops.
(updates will come soon)

1996-2001 a map showing how much of Afghanistan was controlled by the Taliban.

In my short book I have written, You will find:

A true and accurate description of what happens in the work place as a Soldier in Afghanistan.

You will find an unbiased account of the events that unfold.

You can read the newspaper article that was published in a local paper here in the UK,from the reporters team who were there with us in the middle of a contact.

You will see the link on my profile to actual BBC footage of the events in Afghanistan and what happened after.

This short book was written through my eyes, and unfolds three action packed days in the Gan.

If anyone has any comments they would like to say then feel free to message me directly and I will reply to all. All of your opinions are welcome, and so is this one from a great man.

we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and if, which I do not for a moment believe, this island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the new world, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.
Winston Churchill

900,000 + civilian casualties (http://www.unknownnews.net/casualties.html)

An army is only ever any use in defence of one's own ideals.

Thankyou Steve.
As I said I wont debate in here, Dedalus if you read my story you will see why the casualties are high, (last chapter)
and KurtisJ lol I do declare It was washing and poseing day when my photo was taken.

Please as I said in the first paragraph do not judge straight away at least read the events of what actually happened in Afghanistan before you start putting links to random sites and judging before you know why.

We can all look at numbers and figures and build our own pictures of events, but can you be involved in the pictures and Ideas of events and still agree with the stats and figures ?

I still don't believe you.
Everybody's a war hero on forums nowadays.
I remember after 911, everybody claimed to be a New York fireman in forums for years after that. close quotes

LOL. Don't disrespect the shirtless guy! Don't you see what he's holding.

And I am not a New York fireman. LOL

I don't see how your book suddenly illuminates something that we see on the news and read in the newspapers every day. We constantly see the view of the war from our perspective. We have obituaries to the sadly deceased British soldiers. We have documentaries on journalists who have gone out and accompanied the British army in Afghanistan. We know the British soldiers aren't adequately equipped, they're under-staffed and their meals are suited to a cold-climate - and we know they're having a bloody hard time.

By not reading your book I and anyone else is not making an uninformed opinion on the war.

My opinion is you shouldn't have been there. My opinion is that nobody is representing the Afghan peoples' views. My opinion that the ideal of "I don't support the war, but I support our troops" is a 19th century neo-nationalism concept.

I've been able to draw these opinions from our own sources above.

The news is very skewed, my little friend. If you think you're getting all the news with all the facts, you are gravely mistaken. Where are you collecting your facts? Fox news?

My opinion is that you should keep your mouth shut. These fellas are going over and doing something you don't want to do.
You know what happens if they don't go? If they don't volunteer? It's called a draft and you might be going yourself. See how happy you are when a bullet zings past your head. I'm guess your bowels will be in your drawers and piss will be running down your leg.

You're also incredibly disrespectful. You're the problem. People who don't want to listen thus making these men and women's journey that much tougher, especially when they return home.

Blind eye, blind ear.

Why not just skip the thread instead of being a giant jerk about it?

You don't get to see or read even 10% of what goes on. If you did then the politicians would never get another single vote.

The military has the chain of command, people don't seem to understand this. but it's the be all and end all of a soldiers very existance. You're trained in a way that killing is dehumanized and when out there you're not fighting a war, you're protectiing your mates. Which is the hard bit for some to explain. if somebody is setting out that day with the intention of taking your life, and you manage to make it not happen then it's a good day. It's really that fucking simple when you're out there. It's not like that when you're dumped back out on to civilian life. It's difficult, really difficult.

You can hate the reasons and the politics, but don't hate somebody that would advance in to live incoming rounds to save you or a friend.

I know. I think we were saying the same thing.

No?
