Christian Lit Forum

Here's our schedule:

May 21 - June 4
AudreyB - Forgiveness Fits
http://www.authonomy.com/books/36529/forgiveness-fits/

June 4 - June 18
HECROW55 - Thy Wondrous Works Volume One The Law Of Moses Fulfilled
http://www.authonomy.com/books/36935/thy-wondrous-works-volume-one-the-law-of-moses-fulfilled-revised/

Welcome to the Christian Lit Forum! This forum is modeled after the Phoenix Literary Club that I have been a part of for a while. This is how it works. Every two weeks all members will read the same Christian book and comment on it in the highlighted author’s book domain and also post it in this thread. If you would like, and you haven’t done so already, you may give the book a star rating and even back it if you are so moved.

We will spend the two weeks offering positive and helpful criticism to ensure that the book becomes the best representative of Christian literature that it can be. Hopefully, this will give the book a little boost as well as generate threads of discussion that will be educational and beneficial to all. Although I am setting the goal to read at least three chapters, I highly encourage the members to try and read as much of the book as possible. Since we will spend two weeks on each book, this can be done in little sections of reading then commenting, reading then commenting…

Here are some ground rules:

1. We will speak the truth with grace.
2. We will not discuss denominational differences nor get into theological debates. If I find the conversation seems to be going off track, I will kindly turn the conversation to the task at hand -
discussing the literary merits and aim of the book.
3. As Christians with a world view, I would expect each member to be open-minded, especially,
when it comes to Harper real-life books (memoirs, autobiographies…) Some of our brothers
and sisters have been down a terrible road that none of us care to travel. Although their stories
may be difficult to hear, please give them grace to tell their story in their words and as they
experienced it.
4. We will follow Jesus’ command: “Love God; Love Others”

Please message me with any suggestions or concerns about members or the dynamics of the thread. I don’t want to read anything on the thread that will cause strife between brothers and sisters or that could potentially give our Father a bad name.

To join the group:

- have a work categorized Christian (not religious)
- be an active member of the Christian Critique and Review Group
http://www.authonomy.com/forums/threads/84425/christian-critique-and-review-group/ OR…
- post a Christian Lit Forum Review of at least 3 chapters of one of the books in the list before having your own book added OR….
- either read at least 3 chapters of the book that we are discussing, participate in discussion and post a review

Simply leave a post at the bottom of this page letting me know you’d like to join and what book you’ve read. Please give me your name, the name of your book and the link, and you‘ll be added to the list.

There is no obligation as to your level of activity, we all have busy lives, it is the quality of the debate not the quantity that we should be striving for .

Readers are welcome.

If your book is not labeled as Christian but you want to join our discussion, you will be added as a "Friend of the Christian Lit Forum" - members will be encouraged to read your work and to comment, but you will not be up on the “box” as a book that we will discuss.

We will begin when we have at least twenty members. Oh, and one more thing. When it is your turn, please tell us a little bit about yourself - family, background, what kinds of things you like to read, what inspired you to write your book, how you became a follower of Christ…

All right! I guess that’s it!

Come on you guys! I know you're a humble bunch, but someone has to go first. Actually, I've reserved the first spot for Audrey our fearless and gracious leader on the Christian Critique and Review forum and then Peter Sidebotham said he'd wouldn't be afraid to step up on the box followed by PattiT. And being through this with the literary fiction group, I would love to get beat up again! Ha.

Okay....I want to do this. I haven't been terribly active on the Christian Critique group because I keep getting return reads, around 4 a day or so....But this? I want to try this.

Can I just poke my head round the door and say congratulations on this new endeavour Dianna and well done to you.

Although I am neither religious nor a writer of Christian literature, I would like you to consider me a friend of this crit group in so much as the fact that you have my full support and if you are ever short of an impartial reader, give me a shout.

My best wishes to you all - I am sure with Dianna's guidance you will make a wonderfully vibrant group.

Rob,

I'm am so flattered by your kindness and encouragement. You took over the helm of the Phoenix Literary Club so professionally and graciously. It clearly is the best run thread in all the Authonomy kingdom and I am so thankful to be a citizen of it. I hope you don't mind that I used your forum as a template for this one. Please take it as the highest compliment I could give.

I'm honored that you would want to be the first friend of the Christian Lit Forum!
