When I upload my book, the typeface appears to be in bold, even though pre upload it is clearly not. The typeface I am using is Times New Roman, size 12.

Any ideas why this is happening?

What normally happens is word likes to add a style to books. So, even though you may not have put your stuff in bold, word has. You need to go through your MS and remove the style. How depends on your version of word. I have 2010.
