7/2/12 Belated recommendations this week, the snow got in the way slightly as there was a sudden and unexpected requirement to make several snowmen! And a busy week at the day job, to get myself back in the rhythm the books going on my shelves will stay there for a week and a half. My FIVE for this week and a half contain books I’ve previously backed in two cases, one favourite from the last fortnight that’s doing so weel and two new additions. Congratulations to Andrew Stevens for The Poet finally hitting the Ed Desk. I am putting Joe’s great book back on my shelf for the rest of this month, I’ve backed it before and it thoroughly deserves your support: Rupee Millionaires (3) http://www.authonomy.com/books/37651/rupee-millionaires/ My next choice is a new one on me, weird, wonderful and very thought-provoking, I’ve been reading this on and off for the last two weeks, very intriguing, Dick Burton’s book’ll make your hair curl and then go onto explain why and how: Futuresex (958) http://www.authonomy.com/books/40544/futuresex/ And I’ve supported this one before, but it deserves it again, a fantastic piece of YA writing, totally failing to patronize this audience, raw and rich and giddy: The Withering (4) http://www.authonomy.com/books/36287/the-withering/ I discovered this book a couple of weeks ago, perfect for it’s audience, a clear, open voice, short chapters and bristling with action: Cassidy Brown and the Worst Two Weeks Ever (63) http://www.authonomy.com/books/32011/cassidy-brown-and-the-worst-two-weeks-ever/ And then, for the third week in a row I feel I need to shout about this one by Kara Anna (92) http://www.authonomy.com/books/40475/anna/ This has gone up 400 places since I first read it three weeks ago. Excellent. Meanwhile, because I don’t have the time to do the reading on this site, Benevolence tumbles - ho-hum. Best of luck to them all, happy reading this week. Sorry, I usually put the linky things in but they've upgraded the site and don't allow forum posts to contain code now. Andrew Posted: 07/02/2012 06:20:36Last Edit: 07/02/2012 06:23:41 by Andrew W.
