I know it doesn't count for much, but FORFEIT has never been so high in the ratings chart. All those edits must be working!

And my new favourite comment:

"I shall look a little bit more closely past the cagoules and rain, the next time I’m in the Lakes. Or is this just a fiendish marketing plot by the Lakes tourism board to sex the place up….. This is chick-lit as social commentary – at the Bridget Jones end of the genre. Throw a game of Forfeit into the mix and you’ve created a compelling reason to find out what happens in the end. This is clever, assured writing with brio. It’s genre fiction at its best with engaging characters with their own voices. Many writers underestimate the demands of this genre but you know it inside and out. You need a really good ear for dialogue as well as an encyclopaedic knowledge of It-Girl wardrobes. When is this going to be published? It deserves to be."

"This is chick-lit as social commentary"

- this bit has gone right to my head. In Distraction, on top of the murder and mini-sex scene, I've added comments on lack of policing in the countryside, current unemployment issues and how bankers have brought the country to its knees. All through character POVs.

I'm turning into Jane Austen, FFS.

Daisy

Jane Austin has got nothing on you, you’re far too transgressive now, what that mini-sex scene and all I think you are actually - you’re turning into Tama Janowitz - only you are infinitely better looking as well.

Transgressive, um... not sure about that. But I'm loving writing this week. It feels awesome. (which is a word my MC would use.)

I was being a tad tongue in cheek - just meant that you ate a bit more edgy than Jane Austin.
