Any Terry Brooks fans out there? My cousin just recently won a contest to have his name in the next Terry Brooks book. So here is the email he got from Terry Brooks: > After some considerable thought about how to use you in an upcoming book, I have decided to let you stay in character. Your character will be an officer in a military regiment whose role is substantial and life-altering to the plot of the book. I think you will be pleased with the result. But the book will not come out unti...l August of 2013, and Shawn (who runs my website) and I were wondering what we might do to draw attention to your winning the naming contest and to the work of WACAP. > > What we thought we might do is poll the readers on whether or not they favor an ending where you survive, battered and bruised but alive or an ending where you died heroically. We like the idea of reader involvement in these sorts of things, though I can tell you I will still be the one who makes the final decision. But letting them vote and comment might be fun. > > If you have no objections, we are going to proceed with this on the website. We can use your name in conjunction with this or not, as you choose. I would like to tell them you are a marine officer but will keep your name out of it if you wish. I just want you to tell me if you support the polling idea. > > Just drop the website a note and let me know. Best wishes, Terry _____ Pretty Cool!!! Posted: 07/02/2012 23:13:37

Dwarfs as I recall. Lots of dwarfs and magic stuff. But hey, I used to read it... In fact I used to read Piers Anthony. Yeek. Posted: 07/02/2012 23:38:21

I couldn't get into the Shannara books, but loved his Magic Kingdom for Sale/Sold! series. Posted: 07/02/2012 23:56:20
I loved both. He was the first fantasy series I read WAY back in middle school. Posted: 07/02/2012 23:58:45

I found the sword of Shannara series totally derivative and that put me off, but he is very popular. Posted: 07/02/2012 23:59:25

I remember liking some demon books he wrote. Couldn't get into Shannara, it was a zillion pages long, printed on tissue paper and my attention span was too short at the time. Posted: 08/02/2012 00:32:33
