about me

I enjoyed a marketing and sales career in telecommunications.

Shortly after self-publishing a non-fiction book a few years ago I developed an addiction for fiction. I write character-driven novels aimed at an adult audience.

Comments on my work are welcomed and appreciated.

Hard To Please

R.A. Battles

Love may be blind for a commitment man, but it doesn’t have to be deaf, dumb, and stupid.

On Friday nights Preston usually can be found at a local nightclub with his bombastic sidekick, David.

When Preston meets Patricia on a night out in Dallas, there seems to be a mutual attraction. Over the course of a year, Preston keeps his friendship with Patricia platonic while he pursues the types of relationships he is more comfortable with. He makes some bad choices, one of which will result in him severing his friendship with David.

With a little help from Mother Nature, Preston and Patricia spend three days and nights together. How will Preston react when he realizes not only is Patricia his intellectual superior and a true friend—she is much more of a woman than any of the women he’s ever known?

Family Affairs

R.A. Battles

Saints and sinners learn there are six things in life that are free, and sometimes an angel is disguised as a friend.

Every Saturday, Liz dispenses her brand of wit, wisdom, and imperious down-home advice to the staff and clients at Margie’s Beauty Salon.

Liz takes a special interest in Leah Starks, a twenty-six-year-old client who suffers from abandonment issues and doubts about her self-worth. Shortly after Leah’s mother is killed in an automobile accident, Liz unravels a secret in the spelling of Leah’s name that will redefine Leah’s and Margie’s relationship.

As Liz’s health begins to deteriorate, she has to make some decisions regarding her faith, her family, her friends, and a secret she has kept for almost fifty years.

Jake, In my opinion, Not Responsible promises to be your best work to date. The pitches compelled me to want to read your chapters, particularly since you don’t mention the main character’s name in the pitches. Very creative! The writing in the chapters is superb. Without wasting any words, y... view book

Jasmine, As Paris Hilton might say, your novel is hot! I like the daring and the naughty mix of this compelling and well-written story. You have a gift for fleshing out your characters in a way that allows a reader to see them, hear them, and feel them. I’ve followed most of your posts in the ... view book

Joshua, As I visualize myself in a bookstore or on Amazon.com reading pitches and deciding how I want to spent my month’s allowance on books, your work is a stand out. Not only have you sold your work with your sharply written pitches, you deliver the goods with your stellar writing and your stor... view book

Violet, I've backed this compelling piece of work before and I am happy to back it again. I don’t have my previous notes or comments. I don’t remember if the original novel was written in a third-person, omniscient POV or a first-person, present-tense POV. I’ve become a huge fan of the first-p... view book
