I like the opening, and the general style, which I found easy to read. The pace, tone and rhythm are all appropriately synchronised to the content - and saying all that doesn't reflect how hard that is to achieve, certainly it is something I have never managed to do! Definitely reminded me of Robert Heinlein, and the classic sci-fi of my parents' generation and before.
