about me

I live in Edinburgh, Scotland and am originally from Abroath in Angus - the seaside town where my book is set.

I currently have poetry published in Poetry Scotland, Stand magazine and New Writing Scotland 28 (published later this year), and the section of the manuscript on Beluga whales is published in FuseLit (a brilliant magazine based in London).

I value quality of prose above all else and love the poetic writing style of my favourite authors....

favourite books

in watermelon sugar by Richard Brautigan;
Beautiful Losers by Leonard Cohen;
And Our Faces, My Heart, Brief as Photos by John Berger

Hello blueboy, Thanks for such a lengthy and detailed critique - I really wasn't expecting one and appreciate the time it must have taken. My novella isn't intended to be strongly plot-based, not all books are. Hopefully the publishing world will turnaround some time and publish such things again ... view book

Dear Pia, Thanks so much for your lovely and thoughtful comments, it's appreciated very much. I'm totally knocked away by your writing style. I never thought I would want to read a fantasy book in a million years - until now. I'm amazed at how beautiful and evocative your prose is - and so pleas... view book

Dear Richard, Thanks for your lovely comments - have shortened the chapters as recommended! Thanks. Your book is intriguing - I love stories based on uncovering lost parts of history, and yours certainly draws the reader in. Your interest in forgotten cities certainly shines through... Have backe... view book

Dear Colin, Thanks for your support and advice - I've followed it and split up my book into much smaller chapters! I've backed your book since it seems very focussed and evocative of 80s Britain from the outset - best of luck with it! Many thanks again, Chelsea view book

Hello blueboy, Sorry it's taken an age to reply to your message. I love the religious cult theme of your book - any book with an Elvis cult gets my backing! Thanks, Chelsea view book
