about me

As a wife and mother of two boys, I'm the only female in the house (yep, even the dogs are boys). To save my sanity I escape into books. And to prove my insanity, I've started writing them.

Island Grace

Shannon Moore

Join Grace as she chases the one who got away all the way to Edisto Island and ultimately finds herself as well.

Grace Ramsey is in a slump: with one failed marriage under her belt, she lives in Atlanta in an unimaginatively decorated apartment, her job is unsatisfying and her dearest friend lately seems to be her cat. Aside from nightly phone calls with her dad that last until his favorite game show comes on, nothin’ much is happening in Grace’s life.
That is, until she gets a wedding invitation from a college friend. Jared Campbell, presumed lifelong bachelor, is getting married on Edisto Island , SC. Seeing him and her best friend from college, Cissy Patton, sounds like fun but going to the wedding would also mean seeing Ben Henry, her college crush. And Ben had made it perfectly clear one night, while lying in a hospital bed after an accident which changed both of their lives, that he never wanted to see Grace again.
Many questions plague Grace: should she go to the wedding and try to mend the old hurt with Ben? Are roads to the past better left untraveled? And, where the heck is Edisto Island ? Told in a casual Southern voice, Grace’s journey will make you laugh, cringe and want to call your best friends.

The Guardian

Shannon Moore

What's a girl to do: battle evil, or finish that big Social Studies project?

Alexandra Palmer discovers on her sixteenth birthday that her life is not what it seems. She is a Guardian, descended from a long line of protectors of the world. While having special powers sounds like fun, it also comes with the responsibility of dealing with evil. The kind of evil that wants a girl like Alex dead. And although Alex appreciates good trouncing evil as much as anybody, she was kind of hoping her weekends would be filled more with cruising in a new car and dates with her school crush, Gabe Davis. So what is a girl to choose? Battling demons and saving the world, or just trying to fit in at her high school? For anyone that has ever dealt with wanting to stand out while still blending in.

Hi Heidi: intriguing stuff here! I've read the first three chapters and like it, even though it doesn't follow the normal paint-by-numbers rule of storytelling. While I like Betty and sympathize with her (after all, don't we all kinda feel like the soil beneath the flowers, which is very poetic, by ... view book

Hey Daniel: I like the premise of your story and the witch is properly scary. My only problem was the size of the font: it made the reading slow going, but that's not bad for my only critique! I think your audience will enjoy this. Good luck! Shannon view book

I'm enjoying the story. The change from first to third person threw me off, so I didn't get into ch. 4 but really liked everything until then. The friendship between Kate and Suze felt real, as did the all the dialogue. I can certainly relate to not wanting to be left alone with babies ( I think mos... view book

Hey Patrick: I've gotten through ch. 3 and I think your book is great. Never thought I'd be interested in a guy's version of chick lit, but you've certainly won me over. The 'morning after' scene was hysterical! I kept picturing the movie version with someone like Hugh Grant bumbling his way through... view book

Hey Karen: finally got around to reading on the site (I've been sick). I liked it! I can really feel Sylvia's pain over her mother's disappearance and her surreal situation at Beech Mtn. Whoosh reminds me of either Ct. Olaf or Willy Wonka: he seems both sinister and yet comical all at the same time,... view book
