I think the beginning is very good as far as setting up the suspense. Not sure you really need the spirit world reference though. view book

A few thoughts on this first chapter: first the ending of the poem doesn't make much sense since most of the Beats were Religious in one form or another. Kerouac was a Catholic, Ginsberg was a Buddhist as is Gary Snider and Burroughs believed in the sevens souls of ancient Egypt. Some of the phrasin... view book

I like much of the first person narrative, it was in my opinion was really one of the stronger aspects of the story.
