To whoever stumbles across this.
I had a book up here a while ago (The Last People) and took it down for editing. I then thought an introductory story would be a nice touch - I'm thinking of aiming for the ebook market so it would be free or cheap as a lead-in for The Last People. The result of this is 'The Forbidden Tale' a short story which is just over 12000 words. I was aiming at at least 10000 so I could get it on here and see what people thought about it.
I'm now in the final part of getting both stories into smashwords & kindle and have no wish for amazon to price it as free because it's on here so have taken it down.
