about me

Bob McCarthy is a resident of Whitman, Massachusetts. He comes with no impressive literary credentials, has not taken a single writng class, and works two menial jobs to underwrite a persistent wrting habit.

In terms of Backing and Reading: I'll stand behind quality writing and craftsmanship regardless of who does or doesn't reciprocate. If possible, I'll offer an opinion, but it's not my strong point.

Giving Up the Ghost

Bob McCarthy

Once there were five. But first fell Frank and then Ed, both taken too young, by girlfriends-turned-wives, by wedlock. Now death has returned for another.

Death has again visited upon them, laying its icy hand over the band of unrepentant scoundrels. Once there were five, vigorous and virile, rogues the whole lot, unleashing unspeakable iniquities upon the land. But first fell Frank and then Ed, both taken young, too damn young, by girlfriends-turned-wives, by wedlock.

The married and unmarried, the dead and living—the balance has shifted, for Milo, once the most vehemently opposed to matrimony, has unexpectedly joined the ranks of the betrothed. In three short months, he too will give up the ghost and be committed to a travertine-tiled suburban grave. In honor of their fallen brethren, Baron and Manchez, the last of the unencumbered, forge on, continuing the dance of deviltry and depravity. Rejecting board games and fondue in favor of barrooms and blackouts, fetishes and flesh, the tandem incur the scorn of the wives for their unruly influence. But even as Baron and Manchez prepare to wake Milo, bidding him farewell in a most improper fashion, the Dark Angel has set its sights on another.
